Not sure if this was posted or created anywhere else on the forums but I figured it'd be a good idea to have one. For those wanting the new standard 3DS to come to North America, this thread will provide information and links to various polls, petitions, and new updates on the matter. I'll post the general links and information below. Hopefully, admins will approve this post so we can get as much support as possible.

[[DISCLAIMER: This campaign is NOT about shunning or convincing people not to buy a new 3DS XL in any way, shape, or form. This is simply a way to create a voice loud enough to show that size DOES make a difference for many of us when it comes to the new 3DS.]]

Lots of people are petitioning to change Nintendo of America’s approach to the N3DS in North America so we can get the SMALLER version of the console. There are two petitions out and people are also calling in to let Nintendo know by phone, email, and chat.

The information is down below! Please help #OperationFaceplateNA

Then the faceplates will be undershipped, scalpers will buy all of them and everyone complains that they can't get the faceplates for a resonable price.

I've been looking around but can't seem to find any numbers on this, but what were the sales for the regular 3ds vs the 3dsxl in NA?

If the gap is incredibly huge, then I can see why they'd pick one over the other but if there is barely any gap then what the heck nintendo?

Honestly, the only way you're actually going to make this point and get Nintendo to even consider bringing another version of the New 3DS to the Americas is for the available model to sell like wildfire. Help it to sell (and by sell I mean, fly off shelves like launch window Wiis), and they might talk about giving us more options. But everyone encouraging people not to be the XL because they want the small instead, is only shooting themselves in the foot.

If the XL doesn't sell, and it's the version that has historically vastly outsold the small, then why would they decide to spend tons of money to put out a small version?

I see your point, but I won't buy an XL just so I can make the smaller one available in the future. That's asking a lot from people who might not be able to afford doing such things. I'm not against people purchasing XL's at all, and that's not what this campaign is about. It's about awareness and showing Nintendo there's a VERY large amount of people who don't agree with their practice. If anything it'd be nice to get people who DO have the XL on board as well. Us Nintendo fans should support each other.

But we assure you we support the XL and its sales, but we also want to show that it DOES make a difference to us. We're not asking people to not buy the XL, we're asking people to state their opinions by signing or voting, etc.

That may be a scenario, but not releasing the standard new 3DS was a disservice to those who may not find the XL/LL to be comfortable or ideal. The campaign goes beyond just the faceplates. Even then, the idea of collectible faceplates is incentive to buy to consumers. There really wasn't a clear/good reason for opposing sales in North America (especially when it was JUST North America as a victim of the unfair marketing practice).

There are a few sources with numbers, but I don't have any on hand at the moment. Regardless, the fact that all other regions BUT the North America have access to the standard size is unfair. However, if Nintendo decided to remove region lock from their handhelds, this wouldn't be a problem at all whatsoever, which is another thing this campaign is about.

I get that you can't afford both. I certainly couldn't, considering I can't yet even afford the XL (which is the only one I'd have considered, anyway). And I know you're not asking for a boycott, but I have seen others do so, and felt like this was an appropriate place to rebut that notion.

But I'm mainly saying that I think this effort is pointless. If Nintendo decides to release the small version, it will only come because the New 3DS line has already proven to be a success, minimizing the risk involved in bringing more options west. I'll sign the petition and lend my passive support, as I'd never oppose more options for consumers, but I personally don't see it as a fight that can be even be heard, let alone won.
