Topic: OOT3D limited quanity or selling out quick

I went to Wal-Mart first and they said they didn't even get any in and I started to get nervous but I went to Target after and they had maybe 5 left.

The Walmart I work at only got 9 copies for this first shipment. And the GameStop I had pre-ordered from only had one left when I picked up my copy just after 1 pm. So there may be some truth to it.

Not surprising at all.

Good thing I preordered! But I won't have it until tomorrow, since we get games 1 days after release (IDK why).

I never would have expected a game that has been released already on three different consoles before this realease over 12 years time would be so popular.

The game is just that good.

i personally think the shops were miserably prepared for this blast in june.
Look at it everyone is out and enjoying the sun, so the shops just woke up from their dormancy.

Here first day game was sold out everywhere, but guess why ? Yes because every shop only had ordered 10 copies.
Ten copies for a big title and big shop is just a big joke.
Another problem were the sales before the official relase date , yeah that didnt help either for the "normal" customer.
Yes im not that crazy and start to camp through nights with a tiny tent in front of a game shop or whatever ....
Honestly no wonder why every shop is sold out ....

I walked into a lamestop at opening and they had 3 stacks of like 20 each or so games, most were preordered but there were plenty of spares. I'm sure it's hit and miss depending on location and chain but this isn't going to be a pain to find. I'd be more worried about what 'limited' means for the free cd offer from club nintendo than getting the game itself.

I got mine today. It was the display version, but at least I got it at launch. My Target is undergoing renovation, so maybe they didn't have the crate open yet.

That's common for games that aren't street-dated, especially on the East coast. But OoT 3D WAS street-dated, so you should've been able to pick it up today. Not anymore though, as the stores would be closed by now...

Anyway, my GameStop had plenty of copies of the game after all. And for the record, GameStop orders copies of games based on reservation numbers...the more reserved copies, the more copies there will be to sell to walk-in customers as well. It's a weird system, but that's how it works, as my store manager told me when I worked there. I think the theory is that reservations are a good way to judge the public's anticipation of a title. Obviously, that isn't a flawless theory, not by a long shot. I remember one year we ran out of Madden on PS2 because people were so used to not having to reserve it, and we hardly got any copies because the people who DO reserve had moved on to PS3 by that point.

I went to Target at about 2:00 PM EST and they were sold out. They have some "Buy Zelda, Get Another 3DS Game For 50% Off" sale going so I'm sure that contributed to the empty slot on their shelf. Quickly drove to GameStop and grabbed one of their remaining copies. Unless they had more hiding, the stack looked to be about six high...

I am hoping to get oot but no stores in my town sell anything like this. RadioShack doesn't sell OoT. The nearest place thst sells it is Fred Meyers which is an hour and a half drive away.My family plans to go there Friday. Does Fred Meyers stock 3DS games, or should I order it from Amazon and wait a few extra days?

Also I haven't had any streetpasses and i take it every where so it won't be so.d out

I think someone else also commented that Nintendo were annoyed that spirit tracks didn't sell well and quickly ended up in the bargain bin. I'd imagine it's just a bit of simple supply and demand economics to keep thier AAA titles at a higher price. No doubt that stock will come back quickly enough, I doubt it's a production or limited issue.

I did manage to snag one before work yesterday at Target as well. I went in 15 min after they opened, appeared to have abut 6 left in stock.

As for Spirit Tracks, Its not that it was a bad Zelda game, It just it was toooooooo much like Phantom Hourglass imo. Now if it would have came out with 2-3 years in between releases, It probably would have been recieved better. If anything I hope Nintendo takes away how annoying the travel mechanics were in both games. Id like to believe were not the Madden crowd that pays for the same game year after year. We like 2-3 years in between =)

The Target store in my city opens at 9am on Sunday morning...a full 2 hours before Gamestop or Bestbuy. Thus I snagged my copy from Target.
