Topic: OOT3D limited quanity or selling out quick

If you didn't pre order Zelda 3D, you may not get a copy on Sunday. I just pre order mine at my local EB Games and there were only 7 copies left. The worker also informed me that it's not only their location, running low quickly it's but also other locations, Best Buy and Wal-Mart are running out. Of course he can't tell me how many were on pre-order, he could only tell me that their running out. He told me all of this after i made my pre order purchase, so it wasn't any sale tactics =P

I also checked gamestop website and their sold out. The US version doesn't indicate that it's sold out yet. http://www.gamestop.ca/3ds/games/the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-...

What do you guys think? Limited copies sent out, since it's a world wide release or is everyone rushing out to get this. Because shouldn't 3DS sales be going up?

GameStop said first-party games (like OoT 3D) get very little quantity when launching...I dunno if the guy was just messing with me and trying to get me to pre-order or what...lol

lets face it...many people wiated for this game. i wouldnt be surprised if 3DS hardware sales get a big boost this month

that would be great for Nintendo. I don't even remember the last Nintendo game or a game for a NIntendo system selling out. One thing for sure....i know that Club Nintendo will be wonky on Sunday, as a herd of people will be registering the game

They said the 3DS itself could be limited, and the week it launched there were a bazillion units sitting on store shelves in my area. I'm not worried about not being able to locate a copy of OoT3D if I decide to get it. :3

They won't put a limited amount of Zelda out, that dude was a liar and a manipulator most likely. Ocarina is well documented online (N64) to be the so called highest rated best game ever made. Nintendo in some ways is dumb as all get out, but they're not stupid when it comes to making money on planned releases with big games. They'll flood the market hard with this, probably as many copies or more to account for the current hardware at least if not more. I intend on walking into one with NO preorder in 2 days and just grabbing it off the rack as I got a $50 gift card for gamestop(ugh.) Worst comes to it, there's a half dozen targets, a couple toys r us's, sears, best buys, and a frys near here.

I pre-ordered so it doesn't affect me, but i was told the same thing when i was at Gamestop earlier this week — that they were only getting very limited quantities, at least in the first few weeks of shipments.

I think they broke the street date in my state and still sold out. Saw an empty shelf of them in Target.

It's a good thing I pre-ordered then!

Yeah this. I'm expecting the shelves to be full of copies when I go to pick up mine on Monday.

Nope. Target tends to 'set' up a shelf for games coming within a few days. They did that with Mario Sports Mix too and that game didn't come out for another two days.

Game stores will have recovered and restocked by August, so I'm good...in a sense.

Just go to target or best buy. Gamestop only orders the number of preordered games for launch date, because their business model requires forcing as many people as possible to preorder. The big boxes don't care and just order as many as they think they can sell over time.

Plus, you're really lucky to go to Best Buy and have the best chance of snagging a copy as it seems that most people are buying their games from Gamestop, Wal-Mart and Target.

I almost always buy from Best Buy because in my experience, they never really sell out of games and to my surprise considering their large selection of games, deals and some thrown on the budget shelf in abundance.

EDIT: Also, that Gamestop website says it's SOLD OUT, but... You can still add to the cart...

Usually, when something is sold out, things are greyed out and the 'button' has something other than "Add to Cart" if so...

People might of waited to get OoT, to get 3DS. You know?

The stores around my house are always stocked... (it seems no one around me is a gamer? or they have an Ipod) lol so I could wait till next week if I wanted to pick up the game

No theres honesty in that, may not see it in stores again until the holidays and you may not even see it used for a year.

Maybe they get little quantity because I remember the launch of Heart Gold and Soul Silver there was boxes upon boxes of games and all nicely aligned in the box it was shipped in at Best Buy.

I'd almost be willing to bet if it's true, then this whole "limited quantity" thing could blow over exactly the same way Super Mario Bros All Stars Limited Edition did, not very shortly after release coming back by popular demand. Although oddly enough when that happened, they (retailer websites like GameStop) still enlisted there would be limited copies. If that's true, I really don't see what the point was of doing that.

The way it was explained to me was, "because Spirit Tracks didnt sell as good as they hoped, there limiting the quanity of OoT".
Thats what happens when ya make a carbon copy of the same game a year later.
