Ok, so I read in an article yesterday (this one http://www.gamespot.com/articles/what-exactly-is-new-in-pokem... that once OR/AS release, it will be possible to actively obtain all pokemon using only the 3DS games. Obviously, if you're only buying one from each pair, (ie only buying X and OR) there will still be a degree of trading required to finish the set. But I'm just wondering what people's thoughts are on whether there is likely to be any real benefit to choosing one over the other. Eg, if you were to purchase X and OR only to find that a lot of the version exclusives were the same in each, you would effectively be increasing the amount of trading required to achieve your goal.
Do people reckon that's worth worrying about when deciding whether or not to pre-order, or do you think the difference in effort is likely to be fairly negligible?
On the topic of being able to "catch 'em all" in only the 3DS games, I am also intrigued to see how this is executed, as effectively that would mean you must be able to legitimately obtain the legendary pokemon from every previous generation, solely in OR/AS...
From 16/08/15 I’m going for sober for six months to raise money for the Princess Alice Hospice. Donations can be made here and anything you can offer is greatly appreciated: https://www.justgiving.com/Stephen-Butler5
I always get the Blue version, kinda weird since my favorite color is Red, but it is just tradition that I always get the Blue version and my brother always gets the Red version.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
3DS Friend Code: 2621-2786-9784 | Nintendo Network ID: DefHalan
I am getting both. Downloading AS and buying 2 physical copies of OR and 1 physical copy of AS. I'm getting that many because my kids play Pokémon too.
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

In 2014 it really doesn't matter, you can get any Pokemon over wifi within 5 minutes. The only thing you have to consider are the Mega stones, which cannot be traded over wifi or stored in Pokemon Bank.
I'm getting Alpha Sapphire as I liked Sapphire more than Ruby however given that I now know you can transfer between X and Y via Bank, I'll probably pick up Omega Ruby in Q1 or Q2 2015 given that Q1 and Q2 are generally the "Nintendo Game Drought" quarters
Getting ruby for no particular reason other then just to own one. I have X already so i don't need any other one. also if i really need certain ones, once i beat the game twice and get the 2 of the same legendary pokemon I can just trade for the ones i can't get.
The main reason in choosing a game is the Pokemon differential. Alas, Hoenn has the second-worst Pokemon out of every region, so there's only one reason left.
It's up to you, because you can easily get a Pokemon off the internet that can't be found in your version. For me though, I'm going with OR, because who doesn't love a bad*** ground Dragon?
