Topic: ok...3ds hesitates to launch things now..

so..for the past couple days, my 3ds has hesitated to launch any game/app for at least 2 seconds, and that animation it does when loading, the 3ds animated splash screen, hesitates for a split second at the very beginning, before proceeding to load normally.

has anyone else seen this behavior?

My 3ds xl has been doing that for quite awhile now. My downloaded version of Animal Crossing:ANL looks very washed out, too. I am hoping it hangs in there til the New3ds is released here.

After the themes update mine seems to have slowed down a little too.

Yup, here too. Slow startup, applications not stored in a folder take a while to show up in the menu, but starting individual applications still works normaly.
In my case, i just think its the overcrowded SD card + the new and still "Larval" theme update, that could use some tweeking.
Nothing to really worry about, since the system itself works like a charm still.
The only game taking longer to boot would be Smash, but i guess its taking a comfortable seat on the systems entire RAM bank in that moment, so yeah

I've noticed that my regular 3DS works faster and loads faster then my regular pikachu 3DS XL.
I've found it very strange.

same here, however when i close either 3ds settings and smash the system needs to reboot. cant wait for these new systems to ship.

I've seen that, but it only happens as soon as the 3DS boots up/closes Smash

I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]

Same for me, but I think it's just what Einherjar said. It doesn't bother me too much, but I can notice it.

Mine has also been slower sometimes (but not always) when loading games, or the home menu icons ever since I got the Smash demo maybe? I wonder if the amount of memory Smash uses just causes the system to be slow even when it's not running.

It is annoying there is no reason the system itself should be so rubbish. (The DSi XL runs great). I would rather have none of miiverse / messages / web brower in order to have the system running well.

All I've noticed is slowdown of the icons loading on the home menu, probably due to the borders the theme gives them. No other problems with launching or running games.

Yeah, aside from the icons taking a little longer to load, everything else seems to be fine, for now at least.

Same here. Whenever I turn on my 3DS, everything is blank for a good two seconds, then a bunch of empty blocks appear for a split second before filling in with all my games.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

yeah mine is a bit slower too. and turning the system off is almost slower than before the update.

i guess nintendo wants us to buy the faster "new" 3DS

Bolt_Strike

My 3DS had slow loading times even before the themes update, I notice that started a while ago (maybe in the Miiverse update? IDK exactly when it started). Themes have only made it worse, now it takes an eternity for it to finish booting up.

I've had a similar issue with my Wii U since the folders update...every app takes two to five seconds before it starts trying to launch after I've selected the app. I think it's just a coding issue that Nintendo will have to iron out with a few performance updates.

Thing is there is no incentive for them to do so. (It is like Apple badly messing up the last supported firmware for a device). The goal is to get you to get the new one.

I respectfully disagree with the fact that nintendo wants everyone to buy a new system. Apple makes profits from hardware sales, this is why phones get outdated the day the are released. Nintendo on the other hand mainly profits from the games and not the hardware(sometimes even making a loss on the system), having many systems out there all requiring games is their goal. Secondly, if they only create games for the new 3DS this would mean that they'd be missing about 40 million potential buyers, which is very unlikely.I discus this in a youtube video, I remember a time where loading times took some time, It frustrates me too but I believe Nintendo will optimize their menu's for older system in the near future.
