No the skylanders peripheral will not work with the Amiibos.
It's my understanding that Nintendo plans on releasing something that will in the near future- however if you have a New 3ds or New 3ds XL it won't be needed.

Both Hedgehog and Stallion, but no matter what, I'm the fastest dude around! I live on Mobius (Equestria too) with all my friends. I really like chili dogs and I'm always up for a good run, probably a few times around the planet. Catch ya on the flip side!
Haha same. Not a bad concept, as Amiibo has proven, but it's not my thing. I only get Amiibo for collecting and Smash use, and possibly future game purposes.
