For me it was the Flower World Cannon level. For those wondering, you get that level by finding the secret passage on the haunted house level.
Anyway you get shot out of a cannon and you have to time your jumps absolutely perfect and bounce off the bombs and dodge the sparky balls right to the end.
Honestly, I lost my temper with that level. I died like 50 times and spent roughly around an half an hour to 45 minutes,
Good luck to everyone who haven't done it yet,. Your gonna need it.

EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. Oh god, those spark balls wouldn't give up, and I used a MINI mushroom for the first 3/4 of the way my first time. It took me 20 times as normal mario to beat it.

It's as hard as the lost levels if you try to play it without dying once on your first attempt. I swear, that friggin game over noise that I kept hearing makes me want to murder mario to SHUT IT UP!

The final level, Star-Castle.
But only for getting that final Moon coin, I eventually figured out the best way is to use the Toad House in Star-world to get a Star.
Am I the only one who still hasn't unlocked all the levels? I'm trying to hoard all my Star Coins to see what grand climactic total they reach. I haven't even started playing the Mushroom/Flower Levels yet...
So far 6-Bowser gave me the most trouble... I really need to push aside reality for a minute... /destroys the universe

There's 240 coins in the game but many of them are Moon Coins instead of Star Coins, which cannot be spent.
Plus you need to spend some of the Star Coins to access other levels which hold less star coins than you just spent.
i'm not big into platforming and not far in the game so the hardest one right now is the castle with the lava and the ropes...i was doing good until one of those flying fire balls hit me lol now i'm a mini mario and can't get on the rope lol i might have to go back and beat on of my previous levels and stalk up on power ups.
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
Well so far I am working on my first play through so I know I missed a bunch of secret levels and such but so far by far the hardest level for me was World 3. Normally I dont mind swimming in SMB games but for some reason this game feels like you are swimming in molasses.

None come to mind really. The cannon level some of you are talking about took me about 5 attempts - and I remember that one being one of the harder levels.
Problem with games as soulless as this is that you'll never remember any of the levels once you're done with the game.
I would say the flower world cannon level. That one was almost Rayman Origins treasure chase-level hard. I actually found the game as a whole to be more difficult than the first one at least though. The special levels were a little disappointing in their difficulty. They seemed just like regular stages, not like the special levels in NSMBW, which were pretty darn tough.

Best game series i ever played:D
BIGG BOSS (Naked Snake) is my favorite game character of all time!
I'm not sayin' it's Lost Levels insane or anything, but yeah it's tougher than NSMB for the DS. And if you can get through all 8 special levels in NSMBW with all the star coins, you're a pretty pimp Mario player. Say what you want, but those levels were the hardest since the specials in Super Mario World.
