Topic: Now With Patches and DLC Available, Let's Enchance These Games

That's the downside to DLC though, companies release games that only have 25% of the content and you have to pay for the rest of it through DLC packages. It's not just a scam, it's a complete and total rip-off. Why do I have to pay 40-60 pounds/dollars for a game only to have to pay 60-70 pounds/dollars extra for DLC packages that are already on the disc? Why do I have to pay to unlock the whole game? I want the whole game not just tid bits.

I hope Nintendo are going to do proper DLC... I'd hate to see them start doing an Activision. Giving part of a game and then a few months down the line having to pay for extra parts.

They're not going to add anything to Mario Kart 7, like new tracks? Why wouldn't they just push those to the next game?

Downloadable games could already get patches and updates and AFAIK that's been happening since launch. There was a Pushmo update that fixed some bugs or something and then there are the NES VC updates and so on. This update only applies to retail games.

Would be nice to get new weapons on Uprising.
Heck, a new weapon TYPE even. (but that'll never happen, lol)

I really don't understand the difference between downloading DLC or having it on the disk. If it's good value who cares where it's from and if it's bad value it's bad value. If there are an extra 8 tracks on the cartridge for Mario Kart 7 and I had the option to pay an extra $5 to unlock them? I'd do it in a second. What difference does it make if it wasn't downloaded?

@skywake, what @demonic is saying is he doesn't like it when games are released sooo early in development and needs to spend 3 times more money for a game that should have had the content in the first place. Now with Mario Kart, no ones complaining about DLC tracks, but a DLC V.S (1p) mode, that should have been there from the start

@Knuckles I'm not disputing that I'm just saying I don't understand why it being on the disk or not makes any difference. If it's bad value it's bad value if it was on the disk when you got it or downloaded later. Sure hardware and software shouldn't be rushed to launch and It'd be annoying if the DLC model kills the Sora style of game design... but I don't have a problem with unlocked content.

and if it's poor value don't buy it.

If Nintendo's gonna make us wait 21 (Or just 6+ months) years for the next Kid Icarus game they owe us some DLC.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

i think they will make kid icarus one of their going on franchises like zelda mario metroid etc becuase kid icarus uprising is selling well

I was wandering what would happen to those who don't buy MK7 DLC characters; but I suppose they could just force everyone to download the files like with the patch.

Also if Game Freak decides to release a main series game to the 3DS they could have some interesting DLC.

I agree with that too... however some companies won't release extra download content for cheap prices. Just look at the Call of Duty franchise, you have to pay around £15-£25 for extra maps that should have been there anyway. It's a complete rip-off yet everyone buys into it.

If Nintendo released DLC for MK7 with 8 tracks costing £5 I would definitely fall hook, line and sinker. However I'm talking about devs who are absolute hounds and will shake as much money out of you as possible... whether that's buying new maps, new costumes, new this, new that etc. it's just ridiculous.

Especially when some developers will lock away content that you can buy at a later date. If the price was at a reasonable price, like £1-£10 rather than the usual £10-£30 then I wouldn't complain. But as it is, devs will push out more content and ask you to pay more money so you can get more of the game. Why do I have to keep paying extra for the same game that should have been there from the start?

How are call of duty map packs a rip off. You do realize those begin development shortly after the game is released right so there misnomer way it could be on the disk. The first MW3 map pack just recently came out 7 months after the games released.

You know, patches got me thinking: why not be able to tie together the Communities with real Communities on the 3DS's Nintendo Network? I remember an Iwata Asks about Mario Kart 7 and how the Communities feature was originally supposed to be on the 3DS OS. What if they released that for the 3DS?

Also, is it possible to patch the online functionality of games, making them lag less (something fighting games really need)? If that's the case, then the online of the fighting games would be awesome.

How about Mario Kart 7 getting more Kart parts.

That would be great. Also single races (not GPs) in communities would have me playing the game again.

That could happen. I would be surprised if wii u doesn't have communities.

Now when they say patching is possible... does that mean they could do something such as... include new characters on Mario Kart? Is that possible?

Seeing as how Mighty Switch Force is getting new levels thanks to the update, I don't see why other games (like Mario Kart) couldn't add characters (probably not anymore demanding than levels). Of course being able to do it, and actually doing it are completely different things. In regards to the MSF update, there are a few other eShop games I'd like updated. It would be great to see some new Player Levels in VVVVVV, and a new area for Sakura Samurai
