Topic: Now With Patches and DLC Available, Let's Enchance These Games

After the news that Mario Kart 7 will be patched in mid-May, that got me thinking: why not enchance the other games to add even more content? Here's some games with I believe would enchance the experience with added patches / DLC.

  • Star Fox 64 3D (fairly unlikely)
This could add online multiplayer and bring back the original multiplayer. Where was the Landmasters and the on-foot sections? However, with how early it was released before the update allowing for patching, I'm not sure on how this would work.
  • Super Mario 3D Land (possible)
Add more levels. 'nuff said. Also, please add control customizations for our liking.
  • Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy (fairly possible)
Add in control customization, Circle Pad Pro support, and multiplayer.
  • Resident Evil: Revelations (likely)
Add in new characters and stages for Raid Mode.
  • Tekken 3D Prime Edition (likely) NEW
MORE SINGLE PLAYER MODES. SERIOUSLY. THAT STUPID MOVIE WASN'T WORTH ANYTHING.
  • Tales of the Abyss (unlikely)
Add in multiplayer support and (if needed, Circle Pad Pro support).
  • Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D (unlikely)
If these two MSX2 games don't make it to Wii's American Virtual Console (very unlikely it'll be hitting American shores), I'd like Konami to add in the extras from the Subsistence, like Metal Gear Online (though after the termination of Metal Gear Online on PS3, it seems unlikely).
  • Kid Icarus: Uprising (reasonable)
Expand Circle Pad Pro support to controlling the camera with the right Circle Pad, just to please the haters. Let them go back to the stylus control after they die all the time on 9.0 difficulty. (NEW 4-25-12 20:31 CST Add new modes, like a racing mode with Exo Tanks, similar to the extra modes in Super Smash Bros., like Board the Platforms.)

If I missed a game that could be fixed with patches or made even more awesome with DLC, let me know.

Now that I think about it, Miyamoto did make an example with Super Mario 3D Land about getting new levels via SpotPass. >.>

Street Fighter IV could use some more costumes, as well as a tournament mode.
It would be awesome if Pushmo, and Ketzal's Corridors got some expansions.
And Kid Icarus should get extra chapters to explain Pit's reason he can't fly on his own, Magnus and Gaol's relationship, and perhaps some backstory with Palutena, and Medusa.

When did Star Fox 64 have on-foot sections?

OT: Unfortunately I'm not seeing updating a game becoming a popular practice for 3DS games. However, I would love to see more stages for Super Mario 3D Land.

I remember Star Fox 64 (original) having on-foot sections in multiplayer. It's really hard to do, as it requires getting medals from levels. It was primitive, but with some heavy updating to combat and movement, it should be awesome. Too bad they took it out for Star Fox 64 3D.

Ketzal's Corridors I can understand, but Pushmo? That thing has a level editor for a reason.

A Kid Icarus: Uprising backstory sorta-thing could work well if executed right. But if we have this, we need more information on the Chariot Master. Who was his master, anyway?

I highly doubt new content will be added to pre-existing games (especially 3rd party), but some tweaks and control options would be great. Ace Combat has circle pad pro support in Japan, but not the U.S., so updating our version with that support seems very possible. New modes, characters, ect for already existing games probably won't happen though (because the devs probably didn't design the games with that in mind), but future games definately.

New levels for 3D Land wouldn't make sense from a business standpoint. With NSMB2 comming out, they wouldn't want to give people incentive to hold out on getting it. As NSMB2 is new, it might have DLC levels down the line (it stands to reason that it's developed with that in mind, since the DLC system will be set up by the time it's released).

Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Don't forget that there's always the option for paid DLC also. So there's no reason why they couldn't do things like extra stages/levels in 3D Land, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus or whatever and charge a few dollars for it. I know I'd happily pay $5 or something for an extra cup in Mario Kart or a themed world in 3D Land and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Making them free? Well obviously it doesn't make "business sense" if it's not simply a patch but.... it's not like Nintendo giving freebies to 3DS owners is a new and radical idea.

Well, technically there are no on-foot "Sections", but if you get a certain amount of medals in the game you can unlock the ability to as a foot-soldier in multiplayer.

I wouldn't mind paying for some extra courses on Mario Kart 7 and I'm sure I'm not alone. I wouldn't mind some other games getting DLC either, for example Dillon's Rolling Western, I really think that should get more levels, if not an infinite mode...

I think Nintendo could do anything they wanted if they so wish. But I highly doubt seeing any DLC for past titles, but most likely for all titles after this update. Who knows, this might increase 3rd party support where they can patch and sell DLC. As long as it isn't crap DLC where you have to pay 75% of DLC to get the whole game... that would turn me off completely.

Most likely just Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition - 2012 Version.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
