I just wanted ask everyone what they think about software so far for 3DS in terms of content?

It seem that most of launch games dont offer nearly enough content for £40 pound asking price.
And some of the games are mere ports of older game with no new features apart from 3D.

"Of course i can only think of few games that offer NEW experiences and content worthly of asking price: SSF4, ghost recon Shadow, SW Chronicles etc,

While many of other titles are lacking in sum of main features that 3DS has offer: streetpass, spotpass, 2 player options, online
play, even use of AR Cards.

What are you thoughts about what were getting so far?

Are u happy or are u dispointed with lack of features that sum of the games have to offer?

If we knew how small we were are problems wouldn't seem so BIG!

I have Steel Diver, Nintendogs, and Pilotwings, and I think they were all well worth the price. Though by now I've nearly had my fill of them and am looking for the next best thing!

I have Pilotwings and, yes, it could be a lot better with more content. I'm not interested in any other launch game; I don't think I'll be buying anything else until I see something worthwhile. We just need to wait for May and all the future releases.

Can't you be grateful and enjoy the games?

At $40 a piece for a handheld game, I think this is an issue. There are only a handful of the games available that justify a purchase: Pilotwings Resort, Ridge Racer 3D, Rayman 3D, Ghost Recon and Street Fighter 4 are the only 3DS games that I would recommend anyone purchasing at the moment.

Considering I just payed $17.99 for Fallout: New Vegas for PS3 which offer 75+ hours of entertainment, it is hard to justify paying $40 for a 3DS title. This price point is an issue for me, and I've only purchased two of the above games because of the high price tag. I've rented many of the launch titles and I'm really glad I didn't purchase many of them!

Let's be quite honest, since we're usually paying 40-60 dollars per game, not getting enough bang for your buck is the norm, even if you avoid bad games.

I do think some games can be replayable enough to be worth full price even if it's way too short. They just have to be fun enough to want to replay again and again. I mean, I've probably played Star Fox 64 more than almost any RPG (except for Oblivion and the best Pokemon games).

Which is one reason I wait a few months even a year after the system is released, To see if there are any games that I really really want to play.

Isn't it always like this for launch games though? When better games come out for the system there won't be as many complaints (unless everything that comes out later on sucks, in which case...my bad).

I think that $40 for a handheld game is just flat-out ridiculous!

I don't see how. Compared to previous Nintendo handhelds, these games require a lot of work put in them. Plus $40 really isn't much at all. Compared to a 99 cent iPhone game, it is more expensive. But the quality difference is incredible.

Further, as a random example, Gameboy games in 1989 cost around 29.99 (USD). Inflation to today's money makes that equivalent to 53.75. Now compare what you get in a Gameboy game to a Nintendo 3DS game.

I don't think any of the launch titles (maybe SSIV) are worth $40. It's a shame first party games never really drop in price anymore (though 3rd party launch titles will see drops, so I'm not too unhappy about that). I'll probably pick up Ocarina for that price, because it's Ocarina (darn you Nintendo).

If we see gamecube level offerings on the device, I'll feel that $40 is perfectly fine. It'll be interesting to see how much content Kid Icarus has, because that's looking like it could be the first game really worth that (at least first party).

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I only have Pilot Wings and Steel Diver. For Pilot Wings, I'd say it was definitely worth the price for me. For other gamers, particularly ones who just want to beat the missions and put it aside rather than perfecting them or exploring the island...well, it may not be worth it.

Steel Diver? Eh...the jury's still out. Suffice it to say I'm trying really hard to like the game. Really, really hard...

pretty much this. no way i'd pay $40 for pilotwings or steel diver, and though i'm tempted to pick up OoT and SF, that price point still has me on the fence (especially because i've already played the hell out of both games between the N64 and VC). however, i would certainly be willing to drop that much on a Paper Mario game that manages to rival the original or TTYD in terms of new content.

I remember buying games on the GameBoy way back when, and I never thought they were overpriced (okay, so my parents were the ones who bought them since I was still pretty young in the early nineties, but still...) You can't really compare today's games with those of the late eighties/early nineties, because all games were that way back then. The problem is, 3DS games may have more content, technically, but GameBoy games had much more "bang for your buck" overall. Of course this remains to be seen, since launch titles are very rarely the best the system will see, but right now there's nothing out there to justify the 40 clams they expect us to shell out. (hehe...shell...clams...)

I can see what you're saying. But really, most Gameboy games were simplistic and absurdly short, though ripe for continuous play. And that I think plays a part. As kids who were bought games by their parents, we were able to really play the snot out of games. We just didn't get many new ones. Now with wads of cash lining our pockets, we buy a game, play it, and then look for the next fix.

This may not be true for you or others, but that's certainly how it was for me. One game comes to mind... Toy Story for the Gameboy. Not much of a game, and would take maybe twenty minutes to beat. Yet I played it hundreds of times when I was young. Now I'll play a game, maaaybe 100% it, and then never even look at it for a couple years. Just by me getting older, a games longevity has somehow shrunk.

... I'm really just rambling now. The point I'm trying to make is the enjoyment you get out of a game comes from what you put into it.

I think the Lego Star Wars III was worthy of $40- even if it's lacking online play or any multiplayer mode.

It's simply fun. I have that (got it fairly recently) and Pilotwings and SSFIV.

Looking forward to Pacman&Galaga, Ocarina, Star Fox, Mercenaries, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus and them other great games that I know I'd like. E3 can't come any faster.

I don't know about America, but in Australia taking yourself and your partner to the movies costs $40-$50. Buying a new 3DS costs around $60-$70. Going to the ballet, theater, opera, or symphony, costs over $100. Each.

A movie lasts 2 hours. Even the shortest 3DS game lasts double that, and double that again if you share it with your partner. So really, if you look at it in the broader picture, video games still give you plenty of bang for your buck as a piece of entertainment.

Scarlet

It's a little disappointing right now, but these are still early days and I can see the huge potential the console has.
Part of it is me; I'm just not interested in sims like Nintendogs, Pilotwings, or Ridge Racer - I want adventure games!
It would have been fantastic to have Paper Mario or Zelda [even if it is just a remake] at launch, although it's good to see that they've delayed them to add more polish and wipe out the bugs.
