I have no clue what the heck this DLC issue with 'Sparkle Snapshots' is.
Anyone mind filling me in already?

@waltz: what are you talking about with 'hardcore exploitative DLC'? i do not understand why you're flipping out so hard over Sparkle Snapshots, of all things — again, if it's just like the original, the base application is already packed full of options — paying a little bit more for extra packs of specifically-themed decorations isn't a bad idea to help liven it up. the only problem with it is that purikura's kind of a niche thing outside Japan.

Because charging money for costumes or FarmVille-style decorations for games was specifically the kind of DLC that Nintendo has criticised in the past.

oh for heaven's sake — that's what purikura is all about! this isn't a new costume for your character in Resident Evil, nor is it a big shiny bow to put on your kart in MK7; it's a pack of different decorations for an application that (gasp) lets you put decorations onto pictures you're taking with the 3DS' cameras. you're quibbling over nothing.

Well, I just checked it out, and I found that your argument is invalid as this is an application, not a game. Problem solved.

Well, I remember Iwata saying they'll only provide DLC that would be substantial to purchase- or something. I also read that he doesn't want to sell products that are lacking in content to then turn around and sell what was supposed to be in the game in the first place as DLC. Wonder how they'll handle the new Fire Emblem in the US- that game had 1st day DLC and somewhat contradicts his statements. But then there is DLC for NSMB2 which hasn't even been created yet.

Basically, they'll be selling "full" games and if you want, you can buy extra content. Just as DLC should be.

Not really. Fire Emblem's DLC is nothing but extra stuff and so is NSMB2's DLC as well

Oh, I know it's just extra stuff, not "locked in game" content. Pretty sure you don't need the extra characters to enjoy the game to it's fullest.

Just saying he stated he wanted DLC to be meaningful, is all...

Some fans might find it meaningful to play as old characters from previous games. You don't necessarily have to buy all of the content to enjoy a game.

I'm pretty sure they haven't said anything about that either way, but it is a good question.

i think as long as we enjoy the games and they are full of content and dont have locked content then DLC is perfectly fine, I wouldn't mind content that even gave you new characters in NSMB2 or Resident Evil
