is it like the Whoa Zone from Super Paper Mario? Because more apps needs gravity changing gameplay.

@komicturtle92 (OP) Did you get a spotpass/streetpass notification, or any kind of notification when you got this app, did you go to BB knowing about this or did you just open your 3DS and found it unexpectedly?

I went to Best Buy about a week ago and did not get a spotpass or anything like that in regards to Nintendo Zone. I don't think my 3DS can ever pick up on anything related to spotpass as I even left it on the whole day with wireless on in sleep mode. I'm assuming the June 6th update will fix this issue.

That picture posted wasn't from me. It's from someone else.

I went to Best Buy on May 20 and got it. There was no SpotPass notification. I did tinker with it and it appears Nintendo Zone can be accessed anywhere in the store.

what is BT and ASDA?
never heared of that. (im from germany)

yeah i used the mcdonalds wifi port with my dsi a few years ago.

BT is British Telecom, its a phone provider and ASDA is a Supermarket that is owned by the American Company Wall*Mart. No doubt Nintendo will have done deals with similar companies in other countries... but McDonalds are everywhere so I would think that would work well.
Do you have Nintendo Download Stations in Germany?

I've got a feeling that Nintendo and the majority of McDonalds locations throughout the world have agreed to provide Nintendo Zone to their customers as that would also help to being in more clientele for McDonalds as they've got 'billions and billions served'.

I remember seeing back at E3 and the 3DS special presentation earlier this year that Iwata had a special McDonalds logo on screen with a wifi icon connected it and the 3DS.

I remember that, too, I thought it was an advertisement to buy hamburgers along your 3DS at first to be honest.

You know, I live next to German, and I haven't seen information about the Nintendo Zone either. I might drop in my local game store and Mc.Donalds tomorrow morning (not to buy anything but to check out of course), so I'll inform if I've got it or not.

Also, for the people who DID get it. Will the Nintendo Zone application stay at your menu? Or will it be only access-able when you're on the hotpass itself? Please reply soon. Before the sun rises up, at that.

Anyone could borrow me a glass of milk?

i dont like having something coming from bestbuy, without knowing what it will give.

It will stay in your menu. It's pretty much like downloading a channel on Wii- it'll be there. You can only really use it in the store (regards to downloading content)

@Wiiver: Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to check my 3DS in public hotspots, hoping Nintendo Zone comes to Mexico.
@Samholy: I saw the app running on youtube, and it asks if you wish to recieve info or not, or you can just turn off wi-fi

I just came back from Mc.Donalds, and it looks like I was unable to even connect to it's hotspot. There seemed to be an error, and though when I got back to the home menu it sometimes got connected to it. Only for a minute or two. Even so, in that time nothing happend. No Nintendo Zone, no notification, nothing. I closed my 3DS for a bit, even rebooted it, but nothing happend.

I guess that the hotspots might be unable to use at McDonalds or others aside from Best Buy, and that after the update of 7th June it will be.

Anyone could borrow me a glass of milk?

TO WHOEVER CAN'T GET NINTENDO ZONE
It doesn't come as a spotpass message. you just go to the 3DS section in the store, wait a few minutes, open your 3DS, then BOOM! a message pops up on the home menu, telling you that you can use spotpass. :3

EDIT: remember, nintendo zone might not be set up in the best buy your going too.

TO MAX

You can get nintendo zone from mcDonalds? i thought it was only for best buy...

If this is bestbuy giving out new content, I think it'll fail. (they had a coupon for $5 off cubic ninja in their magazine that expired last month) besides Nintendo's already having their own services with movie trailers and likely to add upcoming game info.

@armoedghor: I think this will be more like exclusive levels/figures/missions, etc. encouraging you to visit often.

Nintendozone has been about since DS times and the DSi had a cool McDonalds Nintendozone program where you could check information, do activities and even download DS demos. These Nintendozone locations were tried out everywhere, but if your lucky you still may come across them although I still think they are everywhere in Japan.
I used to pick up Nintendozone in the UK at the ASDA supermarkets (part of the wall*mart group) and download extra content for some games, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, etc. And download DS demos.
Best Buys was one of the trials on the DS/DSi Nintendozone and I gues they have just relaunched them for the 3DS so I have my fingers crossed for the ASDA and McDonalds one again in the UK.

I was in BestBuy about a week ago and opened my 3DS to check my streetpass. I noticed that the Nintendo Zone app was installed without me doing anything. And yes, you can still access the app even away from the zone. It even has the options to save pages. I'll post pictures if anyone wants them. (Note: The BestBuy was in Huntsville, AL)

I didn't actually like how the Nintendo Zone app stays on the 3DS after one leaves the Nintendo Zone hotspot. I expected the Nintendo Zone icon to disappear after you left the hotspot as I understood it to act that way on the Nintendo DSi but then again the 3DS is a whole new powerful example of a handheld and I'm guessing that leaving the Zone icon on your device will open up new avenues of interactivity thanks to firmware updates on down the road.

All this Nintendo Zone goodness has me curious as to how PlayStation Near will function on the Sony Vita.

I think the reason it stays on your system is because you can save pages you visited while on the Nintendo Zone, so if "best buy" decided to offer some Nintendo Zone Vouchers you could take them out and about without having to be in reach of a Nintendo Zone. Its just a thought because places such as subway have iphone apps that give discounts and such so mabey Nintendo will be doing the same or at least enable the option for others to do so.
