@DBailey, @Henmii: Usually there's a set date/time (a sort of embargo period) before reviews are allowed to go up. Since the 3DS is still current, I'm expecting to see reviews up relatively soon. I'm not too bothered by a slight delay anyway; I'd rather a reviewer get a proper feel for a game instead of rushing an interview to meet a deadline.
Reviews + the demo will sell me on this one, but even if I decide to get the game, it'll be awhile before I do so.

True. But if there aren't any reviews at all before launch (I don't count this site, since this site is very lacking in reviews nowadays. For example Team Kirby deluxe still hasn't been reviewed!) that mostly means somethings fishy is going on (like a game that stinks).
I preordered this game together with Splatoon 2 - if it turns out to be a stinker I can easily withdraw my preorder.
No reviews usually mean a very bad game...
nintendo life has already given first impressions of this game. and all no reviews means right now is that they did not give out advance copies of this game for reviews...or maybe because the Switch is new, no review sites care about 3DS games anymore.

@Henmii: As another mentioned above, first impressions have already been done here. I fully expect the review to be up at some point tomorrow. If not, then sometime over the weekend. I don't see NL ignoring an IP with potential like this.
To be fair, I'm normally not a day 1 buyer anymore and can patiently wait for reviews. Too many games to play already, plus too many things to plan for besides.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
From what I see on metacritic its a decent game with some flaws. Definitely gonna get this next month together with splatoon 2. Seems to me like a sleeper hit which will fall under the radar for many people.
The embargo on reviews was lifted yesterday at 17.00 CET. Reviewed it myself for a Danish Nintendo site, and I must say I liked it. Gave it a 4/5, because there is still room for improvements, but it is a nice game that you can spend many hours with.
Coming from Monster Hunter myself, that actually did have some resource management in the form of trading to multiply items and sending your companions to find things, not too dissimilar to this game. This game de-emphasizes the combat in favor of the former, exploration and puzzle-solving, of course.
Alone, a force. Together, a force of nature.
