Topic: Nintendo Stars

You all know that many game sites and consoles have an achievement system, except for nintendo. I have a few ideas on how they could bring this to their players in a unique way.

First achievements in a nintendo sence, would be represented by stars ( as in super mario), that would be unlocked in certain games that support this feature.

Achievements would be down the line of , lets say grabing every heart container in zelda, or reaching the max level in a rpg. Each achievement would be worth a certain amount of star points, this would be linking to your account and could be compared with others across all nintendo systems.

Tell me what do you think, how else should they do the acheivement system so its unique?

Why not Rupees? Or Metroids? Or Pokeballs? Or Pikmin? Or Gaga?

Because stars are related to thier mario theme that is the character for their products

And Link/Zelda/Tingle, Samus/other-not-known-metroid-characters, all the friggen pokemon in the pokedex/a million 10-year-old-wanna-be-pokemon-masters/heaps of hot gym leaders, 5 coloured pikmin/spacemen and Lady Gaga aren't characters for their products?

(a) Unfortunately, we can't do anything; you'd be better served handing your thoughts about achievements to Nintendo proper in your region
(b) Nintendo already uses 'stars' as points for Club Nintendo in Europe, so I'd imagine they'd want to do something different for an Achievements system anyway
(c) we've been down this thread many, many times, and it invariably boils down to a big fat argument featuring those who want an Achievement system pitted against those who will fight the idea to the bitter end, and then those voices of reason who don't give a crap either way wind up trampled in the mess. Again, you're more than welcome to suggest your ideas straight to Nintendo, they've got contact information up on their site, and if you'd like to continue on with your own version, you've got that thread you made last night.
