I actually love the new titles, particularly Mario Kart 7. I was getting tired of always having the console name in the title (Super, 64, DS, Wii). The new title is short and simple: it is indeed the seventh Mario Kart.
BTW, Why does everyone make such a big deal out of the two arcade Mario Karts? Yes, they existed and some people actually got to play them (unlike me), but they shouldn't really be counted as main Mario Kart games. Even Nintendo doesn't seem to count them, since this is Mario Kart 7, not Mario Kart 9.

I kinda wished they give it a unique name though, like Double Dash!!...

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Super Mario 3D Land sounds kinda weird, but I'm sure it'll grow on me. I like Mario Kart 7... sounds fresh and sleek. Mario Kart 3D(S) is just kinda stupid. Now the Big N shouldn't do it with any other game in the series, because only the number 7 could pull that off. That's why they didn't name it Mario Kart 9. Blech.
I'm sure the 64 in all the games from 1996 to 2001 means they really are the 63rd sequel of the original game. The smart people of Nintendo have built a time machine, went to the future and brought all these fine games back with 'em. It also shows that in the future graphics don't mean s*** anymore. No more foolin' around Ninty, just admit it!
Super Mario 3D Land just sounds clumsy to me. I can see the box art now, with 3D written in big shiny red letters and Land being tacked on at the end. Either embrace it as the third Mario Land game, or a brand new 3D Mario game. As for Mario Kart 7, I don't really mind. The title has "Mario Kart" in it, that's all the explanation it needs.
