That's one heck of an awkward thread title.

If the 3DS does cost $300, Nintendo has a bit of a problem for themselves. That's awfully high for a dedicated portable device.

I was expecting it to be about $300, maybe $250 if we're lucky.

First off - there's no evidence to suggest that 001, 002, 003 and 004 are Nintendo 3DS titles. I grant you that it's likely, but they're classed as multi-platform, so all we know (rather - all we are being told) is that they are multi-platform.

Second - Amazon.fr has listed the 3DS as €249. North American prices are almost always the same figures as European prices - Wii games cost €49, Wii cost €249 before dropping to €199 and so on - which means the North American price would likely be $249 as well.

And I think $249/€249 would be about right, just as long as it's no more than £179 in the UK as Wii used to be.

I think the 3DS will cost $229.99 because it seems reasonable and It still is more then the wii.

That would be a great price, but my gut says it won't happen. I'm hoping for $250 at least.

Well might be possible, everybody has been guessing prices.

I'm guessing and may have guessed before; U.S. price might be around $190 to 230..

I hope gamestop would have a special, perhaps a choice of a free 3DS game or game bundle deal if you have traded towards the 3DS.....It would make my pockets and my family's bleed a lot less....I've been calculating, I might endup running up my Gamestop bill to around $300 or more, hopefully there will be mercy and it will be around $260 to 270 or less.(Remember Pokemon B&W is not coming out too long after?)

Yah, IDK but if it is too high I might just have to sell my DSi (I didnt want to due to it being in my Nintendo Collection)

I still don't think that the Nintendo 3DS will cost $300 in the United States. That's plain insanity! No one in their right financial mind will pay $300 for a handheld and especially a Nintendo handheld when Nintendo's own home console is less priced at $149.99 at GameStop. I hope Nintendo will be sensible and price the Nintendo 3DS at $149.99 or $199.99 in the United States.

Nintendo should know better. Did they not take note of SONY's epic fail with the PSPgo priced at nearly three hunded dollars?

I'm thinking $250 in the United States is what will happen. With the price of a game that comes with it and a SD card, I think that they won't sell it for any less. I do think they will be hurting themselves because I'm not sure if the casual market and/or parents are ready to pay that much more then they did for the DS when the Itouch is much cheaper then that and has cheaper games too. I see lots of parents choosing an Itouch instead of a DS for their children because it's cheaper. I'm HOPING for $200 since the DSi XL is priced at around $180, I think? That's just what I am guessing will happen.

The iPod Touch is the future of gaming. The games on the iPod Touch are just as good as those of the Wii, PSP and Nintendo DS. Have you seen the Need For Speed and various RPG games on the iPod Touch? The Let's Golf game is impressive.

I dont consider the iPod touch( or iPhone ) a real gaming device.
Yes it can game but without any actual buttons or analog stick it's still going to be second rate at best.
I've gamed on my iPod/iPad and there are some good games but touch controls are not ideal for a gaming device, for simple swipe and point games it's fine but when you deal with a virtual gamepad like on some FPS it can get real clunky and weird.
Maybe it's just me but I can't get used to gaming on just a touch screen, I want to be able to control whatever I'm doing with actual buttons and analog sticks.
But I can see your point, but I usually just end up frustrated with most games that I try on my iPod/iPad.
The 3DS has much more potential with bigger and better games with it's more traditional layout + I don't like download only media, I like having a cart or disc in my possession, if I buy something I want to be able to hold it in my own hands.
But like I said maybe it's just me and I'm in the minority on this.

I don't think it'll hit $300, in fact I'd be surprised if it was $250. $199 would be the sweet spot for most consumers, and I doubt Nintendo would want to make it significantly more pricey than their home console.

Well developers know that those of us who were raised on the classic electronics like the Nintendo 64, Nintendo Game Boy and Atari are going to have a difficult time settling in with the new normal which in this case is the iPod Touch and iPad.

Of course I'm going to buy the Nintendo 3DS and hold on to my DSi. Still, I'm not to hard to convince as I'm always looking for the "change" in the tech world. I've known for a while that the iPod Touch and iPad were going to take the market by storm and I must admit that I'm impressed and it won't take much to make a believer out of me. I'm just waiting to see how Nintendo adjust to all of this and I hope to see big names such as Kingdom Hearts and Sonic The Hedgehog transition onto the iPod Touch.

The DSi was $160 New, and The only New thing they add was The Camera and The DSiware.

The 3DS may be $199 if we're lucky, but, The 3D gaming may have us Costing more.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.
