"Due to maintenance, the Nintendo eShop will be temporarily unavailable from 19:00 GMT (21:00 CEST) on 25 August 2011 until 01:00 GMT (03:00 CEST) on 26 August 2011."Anybody know if this has any significance or anything?

Yep, I saw that message a couple of days ago. Maybe they are preparing the Ambassador program?

It's more likely to be simple server maintenance. It's only six hours. Not that unusual for maintenance.

Yeah, I was thinking it would probably just be something like that.First time I've noticed anything like this since the eShop has launched though so thought I might as well ask about it.

The Wii Shop is also undergoing maintenance at the same time, but on the 26th August.

If the Wii Shop is also undergoing maintenance I'd think it's unlikely it's much. Then again, the first part of the Ambassador program is only a week away.... maybe we're getting something early?
Not holding my breath, I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Early would be nice. But considering they already gave us a solid date for the ambassador program I doubt that's going to change. And as you said, if the Wii Shop Channel is also undergoing maintenance then we can't really expect much.Oh well, can't wait for my free NES games in a week... as well as Xenoblade Chronicles here in Australia. =P

In the UK we have the same thing but on the 27th. Also, come September 1st, do you need an internet connection to get the free games? I'm going on holiday this Saturday, and have had the 3DS since launch, so I know I'm an ambassador, but I doubt that they have a WI-FI Connection there.

Well thats just great I was just about to go out and buy an eshop card so I could download Gargoyles Quest now I find out the eshop is down for maintenance. Why update the eshop then take it down, couldn't they have done maintenance yestarday not right after the shop updates?

I hope that the eShop isn't down for long because I REALLY want to play Gargoyle's Quest.

Well i was lucky buying Gargoyles Quest just before the eshop was going under maintenace. Its probably something to do with the ambassador program.

The Wii Shop is under maintenance at the moment, by the by. Not sure if that's as well as the 26th as BigBluePanda says, hopefully it'll be back up soon. First time I've been on in ages and it's down!

@MiracleBlazeI'm pretty sure you would need a WiFi connection to download your games, and I imagine it will probably be a bit like getting the free Pokemon app from the eShop. Unless you can find a cafe or other place with suitable WiFi to connect and download, you'll probably have to wait til you get home. There's only a couple of cafes in my town where my XL could get on line, but we've had WiFi at home since I had my 3DS so I'm not sure whether it's easier with that . Those games are going to be available to Ambassadors for a good while, so they'll wait for you. Frustrating though.
I wonder if Game or Gamestation would let a person connect and download there? No harm in asking if the opportunity came up.
Still can't think of a better place to kill some time.Playing Solatorobo and Pokemon White.Waiting for Animal Crossing 3DS - it's taking forever.
