im not sure but i think the pokemon games supported the higher security functions like the wpa n all that so why not try setting it up normally on your 3DS

i hope this helps if not maybe you could explain the different setup compared between the 2 systems once more as i forgot about it on my DSI

I am i go to system settings / internet settings / Nintendo DS connections / Nintendo WiFi Connection Settings. Then i go through all the step search for access points it brings up my connection and when i select it it says not compatible.

ah ok well i tried looking and its not giving me a clear answer hopfully someone else who has a brain compared to me will be able to answer your problem lol

in fact i was going to try a ds game on my 3DS anyways so i'll try black and see where i can go from there

SkaterCasper

Yeah i went to the site it gave me and couldn't find a good answer or guide and since this is my first hand-held system since an original B&W Gameboy, i figure id ask here since there are many more DS & 3DS inclined people than me. Good luck to you if i find anything to advance past this problem i'll post it in here.

Modern access points tend to have better security than the original DS. See if you can choose a different security setting on the wireless access point.

Try configure the connection inside Pokemon connecting to online trade.

"Important note about the Nintendo DSi and WPA security: While the Nintendo DSi is compatible with WPA security, Nintendo DS games with online play still require the use of WEP or no security to connect with the Nintendo WFC. Therefore, your connection settings for using these games must be set up on slots 1-3.  This goes for the 3DS too. I was bummed when I found about it.

My game connects to WiFi Via trade and battle but it tells me I still need to configure on Game Sync.(Which anyway, I have not been successful with using it in the first place)

Edit: I found out the Game Sync is not available do to the earthquake in Japan...That makes a lot of sense.

But it should be noted that while Pokemon Black is for DS it also has special features for the DSi, including the camera on the X-Transceiver, and WPA connectivity.

Yeah but no ds games are compatable with your set up. I have the same problem you have. Can play online with any ds game but the 3ds has better online.
