I just thought of this. What if the next Nintendo handheld instead took "sleep features" like Street Pass to the next level.
What I mean is what if Nintendo put a 2.5-3 inch capacitive touch screen on the front of the handheld. It would have some basic organizational features any PDA might have, but the real star would be interactive game features that you don't even need to open the system for.
Maybe they could call it the Nintendo TS, for Triple Screens.
Alternatively, it would be interesting if Nintendo adopted a modified Android OS for their next handheld. It would obviously be a lot more restricted than a phone (having a very explicit gameplay focus, and a special place for "console" games, but it would have some unity across other devices in your home, and have access to the wealth of Google Play apps. To be clear, this WOULDN'T be a phone or small tablet. Instead, it would just be a handheld console that just happens to be taking advantage of the Android features out there, with minimal required maintenance from Nintendo.
I like the idea of Nintendo Home and Nintendo Portable with the same power and the same games and that the handheld could also be used as a home controller, but there were also a classic controller. All three things in a pack and also sold separately. Nintendo would save a lot of developing resources and the games would be better because all the developing resources will be focused on one single line of games. Most of all, there would be a chance that we see more games NOT CALLED MARIO-SOMETHING like Wave Race, F-Zero, Fatal Frame/Zero, etc. That would be really awesome!
@Chris720 And look who crawled out of a hole. Nice to see ya, Its been a while.
Hey, I have to appear at some point haha. How's things going man?
Completely off topic, I know, shoot me.
Going good here. A few of us miss you! Other then that I'm just casually waiting for the 13th!
I'm... missed? Aww... We should find a way of keeping in touch or something, I know Rory's on Skype, but I'm not too sure about all the others. Be good to regroup some time. My 3DS is now completely dead and I can't accept the new T&Cs on Miiverse so I guess I'm not much of a Nintendo user anymore haha.
This is 4D, since nobody here other above seems to understand what it's like or if it exist for the most part.
Bad thing is nintendo will probably never be able to pull it off. Not technologically, but as a product for the adverage gamer it will never succeed due to what it consist of. Unless nintendo will install a home theater with special effects in your house for only a couple hundred, which is highly doubtful and silly to imagine.
If we're getting a next gen console, it's probably just going to be like the standard.. but with some button modifactions. I actually predict motion control where it'll read your hand movements from a distance identifying you pointing at something, etc etc. Basicly a portable wii u to some small extent.
For an addition fun fact, there are a total of 8 dimenstions so while we're used to 3D, and learned about 4D.. there's still 5D, 6D, 7D, and even 8D. Yeah, trying to imagine 8D is mind blowing.
It will be called Game Boy Wii. Or perhaps Game Boy Fusion. Hope they drop the 2 screens. Never liked it on the 3ds or the DS. It Was a cool idea on the g&w in the 1980s though.

You're not allowed anywhere near Nintendo's R&D!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

There's no reason to make them the same power. They should just make games scalable like they are on iOS. If I want to play a handheld game on the TV, I should have that option. I should have have a similar option with console games on handhelds, though that makes a bit more sense to be restricted due to screen size and portability issues.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

Did you even read the article you linked? In the first sentence ir literary calls 4D a marketing term, and the third paragraph mentions 5D, 6D etc. being the same but with a higher number.
Actual 'dimensions' other than length, width, height (and time of you count it) only exist in hypothetical, mathematical situations.

To say it doesn't exist is inaccurate. Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And that's the thing with 4D, our eyes/brain aren't designed to fully comprehend them, it's outside of our range of vision. Which kind of limits its practicality.
