Topic: Nintendo 3DS light from blue to flickering red

I have a big problem with the New Nintendo 3DS. Sometimes when I am playing it turns off even if the battery is half-empty. Also, when it's charging and it's on, the orange light takes forever to turn off. And the battery sometimes goes from half to almost dead (from blue to flickering red). I thought it would be the battery but I tested it and it lasts 3 hours 50 minutes (brightness on 5, volume medium, WiFi off and 3D max, that seems quite normal but not sure. Now, I don't know if it's the battery or the system.

I know I have to call Nintendo but first I'd like to know if somebody here had the same issue so please don't answer "Call Nintendo". If I got a replacement, would they transfer my save files and all my other stuff? I'm also worried because they might test the battery and work normal so they would charge me for the procedure...

Thanks much.

Try a different charger?
If not, then, it's probably the system.

The orange light taking forever to turn off is kinda normal, the rest of it is not. Are you telling us you've tested the battery in a different system? Then I think you're right about the battery probably being fine. I don't think Nintendo will test only the battery. If the system is malfunctioning they'll test the system. AFAIK Nintendo will do the complete transfer if possible. Even if they can't access the memory they'll transfer the purchases, but it seems to me that won't be the problem.

Anyway, too bad.

Thank you all for your kind answers.

@LemonSlice No, what I mean is that I tested how long the battery lasts when my system is on, one of those times that the system didn't turn off.

@ Sanya it doesn't look like the charger is not working properly but I don't have any other to try your theory, unfortunately. Just one system, one battery and one charger.

@Starz I am going to try that and update you later.

Yeah, too bad. I am loving my New Nintendo 3DS so much except for this.

Non Nintendo Chargers void the warranty fyi. If you have to send it in for any reason, make sure to do so with a real Nintendo Charger.

In any event, I am not sure what could be causing it.

@Grawbad, yeah, that's the only one I have, the Nintendo charger. The three things are original including battery and charger and I haven't used any other accessories.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be that the battery works itself loose and doesn't stay connected if the backplate is not screwed in tight enough. Obviously, not wanting to overtighten the screws, I just taped the battery in. No problems now.

@Sakura: Yeah, I called Nintendo and they told me the same. That works!
