You know, a lot of us griped and moaned that WiiWare and DSiWare sucked in comparison to Xbox Live and PSN (at least the former right now ), and now Nintendo is answering our call, and we're complaining that it's taking a little longer than we thought it would. When August and September come around and we're still trying to choking on all the awesomeness that E3 and the June releases will bring, I'll be fine with waiting an extra week.
I question why the hate for Nintendo delaying the eShop- especially the whole "We're going back to the old Nintendo."
DsiShop and Wii Shop were up and running the same day the respective consoles were released. Not having the eShop up means they are dedicated to making sure this thing is running the way they promised and as best as it can be If it's okay for some people that Sony hasn't put up their PSN back up yet, why isn't it okay for Nintendo especially if they want to improve on the weaknesses of Wii Shop and DSiShop? Makes absolutely no sense to me. Don't forget they said "late May" and not an exact date. Calling a Rep before this announcement, they would have told you it may be held off till June.
Suck it up and be patient. As long as their taking time to bring a good selection of games and optimizing the eShop, I'm cool.
I do wonder, however, if they were worried about that PSN breach and if that could be a reason why they held off. Anything's possible.
I have a fool me once mentality, though I was fooled twice, so shame on me. I fell for Wii's online infrastructure, and I fell for the DSi'S online infrastructure.....After Nintendo failed on my twice HARD with online systems, I just don't care about the 3DS one, nor will I care for the next Nintendo consoles one.
I think people should be the same. Just get a Nintendo system for the reasons most people get a Nintendo system. For amazing retail Nintendo software, though I can understand why you'd be mad with the 3DS since it's launch software, even first party, sucked so hard.
So yeah, look forward to e-shop for 3DS, but if you're hoping for something good, at least right away, prepare to be fooled again.
Well I'm not at all annoyed that the eShop release has been rescheduled to June (which is just around the corner) because I know that this digital store is going to be revolutionary. I didn't really have a problem with the Wii Shop Channel although I was disappointed in the DSiWare Shop. In fact, instead of being annoyed I'm actually very happy because I believe that Nintendo has something big in store. Why else would they be scheduling the eShop release the day before Nintendo's keynote at E3?

I knew that it'd be better to wait for summer before buying 3DS. (other thing is that I don't wanna use all my money, I'll get some more on summer to use for 3DS and games)
It's its, not it's.

I didn't have too much expectations for Wii Shop or their online infrastructure. As long as I can play my friends on Smash Bros. and Pokemon online- I'm set. I'm certainly not denying that it's online components are lacking. Pokemon Black and White certainly aren't lacking in the online department but other games are. DSiShop I wasn't really too keen on at first because it's just simply buying games online. Nothing tremendous about it.
Do I have huge expectations of the eShop? Not really. I've learned to keep them low and see what happens. What I do expect seems to be confirmed, so, in the end, I'm satisfied. Content-wise, I'm expecting a 'good' amount and hoping for a great amount. If it doesn't happen, oh well. I'll get over it as soon as I find out.

it will happen anyway, let time flow. dont tell me you dont have a DS title to play on in the meantime. i got like, 5 titles waiting to be played in my shelf. DS used games became very cheap, buy one then you got yourself time to spare on your 3ds
maybe Nintendo will announce a big title for 3DS Shop at E3

I think Late speaks the truth. Perhaps Late is better than Early as the river of time is neither Late nor Early as Gandalf has made very clear a Wizard arrives precisely when he intends to and that is right on time.

Well...I don't really buy things at launch with the hope of good games and all that. I buy things at launch for the sake of splendor, geekness and nerdyness of buying a gadget at launch. It's almost become a tradition among gamers and geeks to buy things at launch because it's TOTALLY sweet to do so!
When I went into GameStop to pick up the 3DS on launch day people were basically partying in the store. It's just the incredible feeling that launch buying and midnight launch parties offer that people like. We don't really care about the launch line up or anything. Look at all the people who line up month after month to buy a new iPad iteration when they've already got a nook, iPad1 and Xoom at home.

@TokyoRed, I agree. My mom tells us that the price is going to be lowered before we go and buy something that is on the launch date. But I like to get products that are on the launch date its just fun to do so and you meet new people, just like I bought my 3DS on the launch date even do I knew they would lower the price I am going to buy Zelda Ocarina Of Time. And its great to say Hey I bought my 3DS or whatever on the Launch date, it shows you are a loyal fan to whatever company you love.

Yeah man, but you gotta remember nintendo rarely lowers their 1st party games prices, unless they do a player's choice version of it.
Also, guys let's just be happy we actually got a date, and since they didn't put an exact date on when they released it in the first place, it doesn't feel delayed to me. Yeah I know they said late may, but you can't always trust those approximate dates on anything.
I hope they run out of 3DS consoles during the summer, just so I can laugh in the face of the snarky barstewards who keep saying "Well it's your own faults for buying it at launch."

From the sounds of it, they have tons of units ready to be pushed out if need be, and the stores are still stocked up, so I wouldn't expect any Wii-like shortages (even if they sell like hotcakes). Also, keep in mind that the eShop isn't reason enough to buy the console for these "snarky" people. They're waiting on the physical games and OoT/RE doesn't necessarily warrant these people purchasing a 3DS.
