Forgive me if ive put this in the wrong place i couldn't see a 2DS section on the forum, Now it's that time of the year the mrs and family ask me what i want for Christmas, And this Pokemon 2DS with Sun/Moon is something that interests me and the fact it comes out next week i think its a great price at £90.

I know its not the best design and everyone is banging out the latest 3DS but i think for me this would be perfect and the Nintendo Switch comes out in March which I've pre ordered.

Couple questions hope you dont mind me asking...

Will i need a memory card to save games etc?
Can i play online on this 2DS? For example i love the look of the Mario Maker game which comes out soon which your able to create and share levels online with other people.

And any honest opinions you would like to share if you have had a 2DS or currently still playing it.

thanks

Games bought phisically at stores save their data to the cardtridge itself, unless stated otherwise. To download and play games digitally through the eShop, you need an SD card. The system itself should come with a 4GB card included.

The 2DS is completely capable of playing online. That particular game however, I think it doesn't support online sharing.

I love my 2DS, it's easily my favorite version of the 3DS. I do have a "new 3DS" now, but I still keep my 2DS around.

As an extra bit, the 2DS is capable of doing everything the 3DS can- except for stereoscopic 3D, hence the name "2D"S. Also, when you buy it check the box, you may need to buy a charger separately.

@Jamie1993 Might want to do some research on Mario Maker, there was something fishy going on. IIRC, it's not possible to share levels online or something like that.. It's pretty limited.

https://www.google.nl/amp/nintendonews.com/opinion/super-mari...

"Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS will let you go online to play courses made only with Wii U version, and even that’s very limited. Namely, you won’t be able to search by Course ID, but you can play 100 Mario Challenge and any course available in the Recommended Courses listing. But there’s more.

“While not every course created in the Wii U version will be compatible with Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, we’re confident there will be no shortage of great content for you to play,” Robertson explained further."
