Hi,
i am thinking about buy console from nintendo ds family and i dont know which one chose. First of all i dont know what is diference beetwen new nintendo and old nintendo (expect of better interiors). I red on internet that New nintendo got few exclusives, but is it worth paying more for these games? One of them is The Binding of Isaac which is one of my favourite games, but it will work on new 2ds too or its just 3ds exclusive. I am looking for advices, which give me better look at the case. Thanks guys

I would recommend the New Nintendo 2DS. It’s one of the cheaper options and can play every game in the DS family.

@StefanDupeczka But, just so you know, while the 3ds family has tons of amazing games, it's pretty much at the end of its lifecycle, and all new games are going to the Nintendo switch at this point, so if you want the latest and greatest, that's probably what you should buy, nothing against the 3ds, but the switch is better in most ways, but I'm guessing your on a budget, in which I would recommend the new 2ds xl

Well excuuuse me princess

Okay, thanks for all your replies. I'll look for second-hand New Nintendo 2ds then, but i got one more question. How this nintendo account works? Can i make new one one used console? Or i have to buy "original one" from first owner?

So i got one more question. What should i watch most when i buy second hand console? Is there something hide that should i check before buy?

Not really, just look at the details to make sure the seller is being truthful about the condition.

One more thing and this is VERY important to know.
Nintendo 3DS family are REGION lock, that means you can ONLY play the games SAME with your region of 3DS machine you bought.

So, Japanese 3DS machine will play Japanese 3DS games ONLY, so does with American 3DS play American 3DS games ONLY, PAL 3DS machine play Europe + Australian 3DS games ONLY.

To check your 3DS game's version, just simply look at the age rating label on Bottom Left of the cover.

If you see CERO A / B / C / D = Japanese 3DS games. CERO A = all ages, B = at least 12 years old, C = at least 15 years old, D = at least 17 years old. There is No CERO Z on 3DS games because that means the games are TOO Violence, TOO Vulgar, TOO Sadistic, CERO Z = at least 18 / 21 years old.

USA version use ESRB rating from EC = Early Childhood with target for Pre-School kids, E = Everyone, E10+ = Everyone but at least 10 years old, T = Teen with at least 13 years old, M = Mature with at least 18 years old.

Europe version use PEGI rating from 3 / 7 / 12 / 16 / 18. The number on the label = Minimum age to play that games. Games for kids until Teen = 3 / 7 / 12, for adults = 16 / 18.

Australia version use very Strict Age rating group. There is G (with Green box) = General (All ages), PG (Yellow box) = Parental Guidance (At least 10 years old), M (Blue box) = Mature (But Mature here is different from USA version because the Australia version for M = at least 15 years old with Moderate Impact) , MA 15+ (Red box) = Mature to Adult with at least 16 years old because it has Strong Violence / Blood / Sexual theme / Bad language.

When you second handed 3DS machine, check the Home menu to see if there is a Homebrew Channel or any kind of illegal apps for playing pirated 3DS games because if the machine has been hacked by those apps that means your 3DS can be BRICKED by Nintendo Online since the updates and Nintendo eshop will checking your 3DS machine before you can enter Nintendo eshop. Tips, DO NOT buy any 3DS machines if the machines has been HACKED, because even you have Reset the machine from Factory setting, your 3DS machine still can be BRICKED when you enter eshop page because the machine sends a signal to Nintendo Online server that the machine has been HACKED.

Well, i hope my informations can help you to understand more about 3DS machines.

@Anti-Matter Well, you got all the Aussie classifications right, though there's also R 18+ (Restricted) which means only adults can view/play it and RC (Refused Classification) which means the game, movie or TV show has been banned and no one in Australia is allowed to view or play it. However, if the publisher/developer/studio thinks the game/movie/TV show has been unfairly rated, they can send an appeal to the ACB to gain a lower rating.

Own up to Joy-Con Drift, Nintendo. We all know it's your fault

GeoChrome

Which is the same with other game ratings systems, i.e. trying to get an AO rated game to an M rating.

New 2DS XL is your best option. Cheap, plays a lot of stuff, and looks great:

And now i got one more question How second-hand games works? If i buy for example second-hand Pokemone Sun, i'll be able to play online too?

StefanDupeczka

Dogorilla

Yep, second-hand games work just the same as new games, and you should be able to go online without any problems. Just make sure the previous owner's save data has been deleted first of course.
