Sorry, was our argument not fierce enough for the two of you? Didn't know I was subject to your entertainment.

I think they were yawning at our argument, and that's fine. Since it was never meant to be one.

I'm sure the game will be a lot of fun, but it's kind of disappointing to see them not really adding too much to each sequel. Mario sequels usually look and play a lot differently than the previous entries, but the "New Super Mario Bros." series all look so similar. Reminds me of the "real" Super Mario Bros. 2, a.k.a. "The Lost Levels." Sure it was a sequel, but it was pretty much a rehash of the first game with the only significant difference being the crazy difficulty level. I guess Nintendo's thinking "If it ain't broken, don't fix it."

@mamp, you! I replied to you about that in the Game vs. Game thread!

Yeah well. Its mainly for the sake of just not having an argument. Its tiring, really. *Waves white flag

It won't be any cheaper on eShop. Nintendo has already said a few months ago that digital downloads will cost the same as their retail counterparts. They say that the value of it being with you at all times, is equivalent to the value of the box/cart/manual of a retail release.

What do you mean he doesn't make them anymore? He was the "General Producer" for Super Mario Galaxy 2, the same title he had in the credits for New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Twilight Princess. He's still involved. He even served as the "General Producer" for Super Mario 3D Land. He might not have pitched the idea for the game but he certainly ran with it. Here's what he had to say about his involvement with that game:

@PoorVGameNerd, I'm not sure exactly what he meant, but Miyamoto doesn't full on make Mario games anymore. He's a supervisor, so yes he's involved but not as much as he used to be. It's the same case with Zelda. His opinions usually rule out all others when it comes to making those two series, but he isn't directing them anymore.

@ the two people above me:
Exactly. Miyamoto hasn't really designed the bulk of any game in a LONG time, even Super Mario Bros. 3 was crafted by a large team headed by Miyamoto-san. So I don't think the claim that "he is not making them anymore" is a legitimate answer to why the four New Super Mario Bros. games have been so alike.

from what I understand, even compared to how he doesn't completely "make" games like he did early on, he had little to do with the latest Mario or Zeldas and was there to make sure the new guys in charge can do as good a job. Basically. I'm sure there's much more to it though. The only confirmed upcoming games he honestly has anything to do with are Luigi's Mansion 2 and Pikmin 3 (and spoilers, outside of the consistently brilliant Paper Mario series, those are probably the best upcoming Nintendo sequels).

Beyond Good and Evil 2 better be happening! In the meanwhile though, here's a fun little Let's Play of the original. Think you'll like the game if you like Zelda!

Your opinion budday

Heeey so as much as I love talking about Miyamoto, let's get back to New Super Mario Bros. 2.
I still can't get over the missed Wario opportunity. Like Koopalings? Seriously? Its not cool anymore. Just like the Tanooki suit. Its neat to bring back an old Mario thing once, but when you do it again its not nostalgic, its just redudant.
