That's right! a new game for 3DS was recently announced called "Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die." What makes this significant is that this game is made by Chunsoft, the makers of the rather excellent DS game "9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors." It even has the same story/script writer as 999! First details and screenshots can be found here: http://nintendo3dsblog.com/first-look-at-extreme-escape-adven...
I'm personally extremely excited since 999 is one of my favorite DS titles. So what does everyone else think of this great news?

I hope it comes to Europe, especially since the 3DS is region locked. I still need to import 999 though. Also, the pink-haired girl reminds me of a character from something else but I can't think who it is.

If it comes to NA, day-one buy. No question.

F yes! Best news I heard in months. A European release is probably not likely, but I would buy a NA 3DS just for this game.

More info:

The guy dressed like a mechanic is the game's main character, Sigma. Sigma is an ordinary college student who will frequently make sexual comments, annoying girls.

The girl in the center of the character art is Phi. She's cool and intelligent, but will sometimes say stupid jokes. She says she's a C cup when she's actually an A cup.

The story begins when Sigma is kidnapped and awakens in an elevator next to Phi. While Sigma doesn't know Phi, she seems to know him, even calling his name out. A bunny appears on the elevator monitor, causing them to flee the elevator (I'm not sure what the bunny says to make them flee, although if I saw a talking bunny on an elevator monitor I'd flee too). They find themselves in a warehouse alongside seven others. They will have to escape from this facility.

Chunsoft refers to Gyokugen Dasshutsu Adv: Zennin Shiboudes as a "game of betrayal." What that means is unclear at present, as only a few gameplay details have been announced. The game will have visual novel parts and escape parts. The escape parts involve exploring rooms and solving puzzles.

Development on Gyokugen Dasshutsu Adv: Zennin Shiboudes is currently at 50%. Famitsu lists the release time frame as TBA.

Seems like it resembles 999 in many ways. Most of the characters look like they can be related to the cast of 999 too.

I just realised that the pink haired girl reminds me of a character from a game series I don't even like, which is the female main character in Pokemon black and white.

Does anyone else think the woman to the far right in that picture of all the characters looking strikingly similar to a certain character from 999 whose name starts with "A" and ends with "E" (Don't want to give away any details to those who haven't finished the game). I think if she actually was that character, it would make for an interesting tie in with 999 and serve as a possible expansion on the one part of 999 that wasn't very fleshed out.

Yes, that is definitely her, no doubt. I believe I read in the Q&A in January that Chunsoft had interest in returning the character in a possible sequel.

Ah, that's very interesting! I didn't know that Chunsoft had said that. My interest in this game just went even higher (As if that were even possible )

It is apparently confirmed that the game is going to be a sequel to 999. A Japansese trailer is up, but I don't recommend watching it because it contains spoilers (such as who dies in certain cases). I'm not going to watch it myself either. To anyone that is still interested in watching it, the trailer can be found here:

Awesome.
Loved that game.
...Shame about the region locking thing though.

Sweet! I wonder if its before or after the events of 999....probably after seeing as how...that character is alive and not frozen. I won't be watching the trailer either from fear of spoilers. If this isn't localized, I just might go on a rampage. I NEED to play this!! NOW!

Uh, as vague and undescriptive as your post was, that still kind of is a spoiler for the original. But, it also adds to the mystery and suspense at the same time!

Exactly.

Never heard of 999... the only thing that number reminds me of is the emergency phone number.

Seems pretty good, I'll keep an eye on it. Hopefully it comes to Europe, unlike 999 by the sounds of things...
