Topic: New AR Cards shown

I found this picture of a guy unboxing a 3DS and came upon this interesting pic. I'm assured you've all seen the First AR card which was a simple black piece with a coin block on it. From what I can tell the other five cards contain pics of Mario, Link, Kirby, Samus, and Pikmin. Could this mean different gameplay offerings for different cards? What do you guys think?

Wow, neat! Yeah, maybe the gameplay is related to the picture on the card.

Wow, that's various curious indeed. I'm a bit puzzled and excited over this new revelation. Perhaps the various cards do play a role in offering a varied experience in game play.

I thought they were all ?s...let's see, one of them was the targets. Is there another game we know of? Does like, one card have multiple minigames? Gah! xD

Yeah I thought they were al suppose to be ?s as well. It seems odd that they changed that.
I'm glad that there will be recognizable characters but I figured it wouldn't be something actually showing on the card itself until you opened the ? box.

They showed a targeting game and I've seen footage of a dragon but that might have been part of the same target shooting game I guess. Though I thought they were separate.

I wonder if more AR cards will be coming in the future too?

Yeah the dragon and the targets are the same, heard some impression of it....Said that once you destroy them all the dragon appears. I'm actually hoping they'll do some sort of trading card thing with them, like booster packs and all that.
(and I'm pretty sure the actual games are on the system, so maybe you can update it every now and then and store some of them on an SD card...or something)

Remember in another thread that we were hoping Pokemon/YuGiOh cards could be used as well...that would be awesome, since i still have Yugioh cards that haven't been touched in ages. xD

That's......That's.....THOSE ARE PIKMIN!!!!!!! AND MARIO, AND SAMUS, AND LINK, AND KIRBY!!!!!!!!OMG, Nintendo I love you for this! I have a feeling there are 6 total AR Games from the start with these new 5 being some kind of minigames around the respective franchise. Mario WILL be making 3DS launch in a way after all! I saw an interview with Reggie where he hinted this but I didn't think this would actually come true! This just made my day! And just 9 days to go until we know EVERYTHING about 3DS!!

In the ? card, you had to shoot boxes, which were basically ?s. Maybe with link you'll have to fire arrows at Gannon, and mario have to beat bowser by knocking bricks or something!

cool I really want this but I'm waiting till OOT comes out. The launch titles are horrible.

Its 9 days until the Japanese launch of the 3DS. We should have plenty of videos and pictures without Nintendo guarding certain details as they tend to do. People will be free to discover and reveal anything and everything, including these mysterious new cards!

I think he/ she is talking about the Japanese release date. But, wait you knew that?

Nope, no such luck. They get it in 9 days, The US gets it in 38 days, and the UK gets it in 36 days. Those Japanese don't know how good they got it!

They suck...I want it now! xD

Nope, Aussie is gettin it last. Forgot to list their date, its the 31st of March. At least US isn't last...sorry Australia!

Yes, that is exactly what I've been wondering about. Isn't there going to be a Pit (Kid Icarus) card? Or perhaps the Pit AR card will come with Kid Icarus Uprising and perhaps the same goes for Animal Crossing.
