Hello, I live in Canada and the new 3DS XL is 230 + 20 for the charger, I am debating if I should get that or get a used 3DS Xl for around 100. I have never owned a DS before but is interested by the huge selection of great games. So do you guys think i should I go with the new one or save some money with the old? As in are the new features worth almost double the price? Thanks!

It depends on the games you want to play. Xenoblade, MH4, and other newer games will all take huge advantage of the new 3DS. But if you're just looking to play the backlog of JRPG's (what I have mine for) then you really don't need the newer one.

Apparently there're a couple indie JRPG's that have already been announced for the New 3DS. If true it might mean that New 3DS exclusives could become more prevalent than most people "myself included" originally expected.

So if you have the money I'd suggest purchasing the "New 3DS".

I am new to this too. But as a gamer, I couldn't see myself getting the last gen model just starting out.

The load times on the new console compared to the older ones are much faster. Just look at some youtube vids. I watched a guy load super smash brothers or something and it took almost 10 more seconds to get to the title screen from boot up.

IMO its not just about the extra buttons and better 3D. If you don't have one yet, the performance would be well worth it alone. Plus, getting the lower priced one could mean games you can not play in the future.

Just my 2 cents worth. But I am new to the handheld myself. Haven't had one since GBA SP.
You should do what you feel is right for you.

I'm wondering who in the world pays $20 for a charger. You can get those in most stores for less than $10, and I've seen them online as low as $6.

Get the new 3ds xl, own the 3ds/3ds xl and new 3ds xl, I can't even play my old ones because the superstabke 3d is that good, and cstick is actually portably versus circle pad pro.

if you haven't owned a 3DS in general go with the newest model~

It depends on whether you you want to use the 3d aspect. On my old one it was permanently off on my new one I haven't turned it off! Sure it flickers if you move too quickly while it tracks you but for slow movement not at all!
Also who knows how many future games will only play on the new one!?

Do you ever get the picture doubling effect with super stable 3D on? The sides of the screens on mine always look doubled when I move and flicker/judder like crazy

Yours is definitely defective. My 3d is perfectly stable even if I have constant movements. (Mh4u...so yeah) . The 3d would only flicker (only for like 2 secs) if I looked away from the screen and looked back.

Yeah, don't pay that much for a charger. You can get a USB cable to charge it for a few bucks on ebay.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.
