Topic: New 3DS internet filter problem

So I got my new 3ds in the mail today from japan and it's awesome! I've just had one issue with it. That is the auto filter on the browser. I paid the 30 cents off my credit card to lift it and it worked great. Then in my infinite wisdom I selected a button which I can only assume clears all internet browser save data. When I went back in, the filter was back up (no youtube when filter is on). I pressed the same button as before to disable it except this time it didn't go to a charge screen but came up with a message saying so,etching about going to the settings to do something. I looked EVERYWHERE for something regarding the filter and am at my wits end here. If anyone out there speaks more Japanese than me(none) and has the new 3ds and could possibly shed some light on this, I would be very happy.

Ohh no that's terrible, but seriously though how is the Internet browser what can you do?

You probably have to go to parental controls or something.

Lol. Yeah, what Scary_Old_Lady said. I tend to just try out all buttons to see what they do except for the obvious no-nos like format system memory. I didn't think I could end up getting myself this stuck. I checked nin network Id settings and went all through parental controls and nothing seems to work. It's quite the conundrum. I'm going down to a place that specializes in japanese merchandise tomorrow. My gf said the owner knows japanese so I'll see if he would be willing yo read a couple things to me.

Oh and @kereke12: the browser is quite good actually. Loads quickly and even boots youtube videos without a hitch. Quite nice for the 10 minutes I got to use it for.

To be honest, YouTube shouldn't be filtered. The 30whatevercurrency should just go to a charity, even though it is a small amount, it is poor to have to pay to use a not-broken-piece-of-crap, that is normally widely available on other devices. #StopNintendo?

You mean the broken, non-multi-task one? No thanks, I would opt for the multi-task one any day.

Try going to internet settings in the system settings or go to the settings within the browser itself. If you are using Google, you can go to settings on the Google search webpage and choose to not filter. Every time you erase history, it will default back to safesearch,

No. It's actually a smart system, since the only ones who'd have a credit card are mature adults, so unless a kid steals their parent's credit card, it would actually allow the system to work as intended. It's not much of a charge, and Ninty's not profiting from it (that 30 yen probably doesn't even cover the fees they'd have to pay), so I don't think there's much wrong with it.

@CanisWolfred
Yup. I agree. It ensures that whoever was using the internet is aware of the rules by charging them, but I think only if you are under 18. I don't see what would stop a kid from buying a prepaid debit type card, but any kid who asks their parents probably doesn't know about that, then it's up to their parents to decide whether they want to "unlock" internet for the kid.

It's just one more step to go through, and they get the go ahead by confirming your age on NNID, but that doesn't mean you should lie about your age, either. You can't change your age. If they find out your real age is under 18 and you bought rated M games or whatever else, and someone got in trouble for whatever reason, they can say you lied about your age and claim no responsibility.

I doubt it will work with a debit card. (The one on my mobile wouldn't let me which is annoying because my credit card seems to trigger the anti fraud protection thing all the time unless it is Amazon or uses Mastercard Securecode). It was basically unusable without it being removed as well didn't just block sites but stopped certain apps working correctly. (Nothing to do with porn whatsoever).
