Hey guys, just wanted to ask for your advice on a certain issue. when I look back to when I got my 3DS, and farther away when I got my DS lite and even farther away to the game boy era, I realize my mind was pretty much fixed on a certain gaming style. since the gameboy color (my first handheld), I used to play mainly pokemon. it was blue and silver, later ruby, emerald and so on through each and every generation.
the thing is, even when I got to know some other great games like final fantasy, dragon quest and fire emblem I mainly played pokemon. I just felt it was my safe place, sonething I can sink my time into. even now, I play mainly pokemon omega ruby and find just little to no time at all for my bravely second, ace combat and monster hunter which I want to try and improve and each of those titles.

In other words, even when I have other games and play them a bit, I spend most of the time playing pokemon. in addition to that, Im in love with the RPG genre and hesitate before I try other genres like racing and fighting. how can I open my mind to other games and genres? would you recommend just making a set of games that includes games like monster hunter, ace combat and ridge racer or any other game I own but never really sink my time into and see how it is? I really want to open my mind to the world the 3DS can offer and break my own limits

thanks in advance =]

The best thing you can do is buy a game used at Gamestop and just return it if you really don't like it. Used games are also cheaper as well.

I'm kind of the same way, but not so extreme. I just play a lot of 2D side-scrolling games, and almost exclusively that. I did play Pokemon X/Y though. I wouldn't worry about it, just try something new and see if you can get into it. I tend to go through phases with what I'm playing. Right now I'm playing lots of Zelda games.
