Topic: My issue with Mario Kart

Mario Kart was the first game I ever got for the 3DS. That is the game I always want to play on any Nintendo system. I feel pretty proficient at the game. I have 3 stared everything, and my record playing online is 3 to 1 (wins to losses). My problem is that I am not even half way done with unlocking the gold parts and I have put almost 50 hours into it. I think those items should be difficult to get, but this is just unnecessarily time consuming. I was thinking of trying to get the gold kart through collecting coins , but since you can only collect at most 10 per race I calculated it would take about 160 hours to get to that spot.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Really, the big thing that'd make Mario Kart 7's system a hundred times better would simply be to remove the silly 'ten coins per race' limit. Do that, and suddenly the amount of hours needed isn't so ridiculously high any more.

I played 250+ hrs before I finally got the Gold Kart Body.

Anyway, I still play online quite a bit (actually just played a bit today!), have 11,600+ VR at this point! The game is still fun to me; it never gets old because the more I play online, the better my opponents get, so I get a constant challenge. The single player mode is so easy to me now, it's not even worth playing anymore...

I got the gold kart via 10k VR.

However, I had to get the golden parasail via coins...and it took a while...

It must be nightmare for people who want the gold kart via coin farming....

Yep, that's how I did it; I got the glider for 10,000 coins and the Kart for 10,000 VR!

Isn't it also possible to get gold parts through Streetpass? Or are the gold parts exceptions?

@Captain_Bagel: The only part that involves StreetPass is the Swooper Glider, which requires beating a Mii acquired by StreetPass in the Grand Prix mode. You can get it with coins, too, but the easiest way is via StreetPass.
