AR cards are a target visual, and the data is on the 3DS.if more cards are to come, it will come with an update or an application/game.unless... unless nintendo already thought about it and hidden data is on the 3ds, waiting for a release.
i wonder if nintendo has secret AR pictures as jokes or something.

IF they are released and priced, they could easily be taken picture of and posted on the web so you can print one off and use it. Or straight off the web. I don't think they will be priced, or improved so they can't be read on normal paper or a screen. This one guy had an AR card tattoo hahaha.

As Samholy said, the data for what to show is already in the 3DS. Thus, to get AR cards coming with games, either updates would need to be downloaded or data from the game cart used to tell the 3DS what to display.
Cool idea, though!
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

With the NGP planning on using "Smart AR", I would imagine Nintendo staying competetive and releasing AR updates in the firmware updates and then mabey offering addition AR cards to print off on their sites or available along with retail games as a nice free bonus. Also just like when you download your own Streetpass/Spotpass data to your device so you can pass info even without the game in, it should be possible to do the same regarding AR games so if they wanted to release additional AR games and cards free with spefic games eg. an AR Mario Kart mini game with cards.

I guess they only need the standard ?-card for minigames to operate. It would be nice if new card will be released, but if the only purpose is to take pictures of them, it isn't that exciting.

if games were to use AR cards they could do like nintendogs and use the basic 6 while showing a character from their game instead (With in-game software).
Back to the basics.

ar cards is fun and all.but the true meaning behind it is that with a simple image, the 3DS camera can read and start an application or game content.it would be great to have this feature within a game, not just making a game focused on this.
think about a game like pokemon or monster rancher.use your camera to take a shot and hope to get a monster out of it.a katamari game that will make you generate household objects to be used in the game.
again, we dont know what exactly the camera can scan. only 2d images? can it detect shapes like it does with the 3D cameras ?

Well, I wouldn't be surprised, considering there will be Kid Icarus AR cards, and Pokemon AR Markers. Although more will be released, they might be a little different than the packaged AR Cards that we're familiar with.

yup, apparently, there'll be some kind of card based battling or something.if you look at the trailer, you'll see that there are LOTS of cards planned.

Why would you need more than 1 AR card? It is just a place holder, so your 3DS knows where to center the application. It is the software that reads it.
The only reason I can see needing more than one would be so you could have 2 or more points centered in the screen at once.
It could all be done with software that they all recognise the same card.
