Considering we now know Capcom easily ported MTFramework (the game engine the series runs on) to Switch, suddenly the idea of this game getting ported to Switch and releasing towards the end of the year/early next year with localization in tow seems like a definite possibility.

Would that mean the Switch is able to connect to a 3DS to potentially access your save(s)?

@Tsurii Well, except for the metal Raths and Deviants, but those are treated like the "hard mode" monsters they really are. A bit of a shame for some of the 4th gen subspecies, stuff like Tidal Najarala and Tigerstripe Zamtrios were legitimately very different. But it's not worth bloating the game with variations that swap elements/have only one extra move just to have them.

I'd hope so, though in a recent interview they shot down MHXX appearing on it, so the feasibility of it goes out the window again.

@Tsurii Don't R-series have more or less the same skills as the regular counterparts, just arranged differently so that mixing is easier (or in Alatreon's case, just a straight upgrade)? It was the EX armours that gave different skills.

@Tsurii Who cares, World's Strongest Prowlers don't wear armor

Also, about that Astalos female gunner armor... one thing I didn't notice was the demon tail hanging from it. It's one of those devil girls you see in anime! Maybe the G version will have bat wings to complete it.

EDIT: Armor Shredder Ceanataur footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UL5JhedxiVg

Interestingly, it doesn't actually start the battle with the Glavenus skull.

@Joeynator3000 Nope.
You can synthesize armor together. That is, fashion armor just entered the main series. Mixed sits need no longer look like clown suits and fashion hunting will become a much more popular past time.

@CrazedCavalier The way you describe it worries me... are the armor pieces ''consumed'' when merged in this way? Certainly sounds different from Xenoblade, or your Guild Card if you choose to ''lock'' a set on it, where you just set a given look to show on your model and are free to change your actual equipment.

Welp, it's out.

It looks like gear can be "limit-breaked" to become G-rank. This is also how Deviant armor sets get new skills (Deviant quests have five more levels for G-rank and another "super level"), as limit-breaking them unlocks a "True/Great soul skill". Sounds like the two most used Deviant sets have been indirectly nerfed: limit broken Silverwind gets sneak (no, this is not a typo-- sneak) and Dreadking gets Adrenaline +1 (not as bad, but still). Here's the list:
https://i.imgur.com/ELCnTIF.png

Deviant Astalos' skill gives critical boost/bonus shot/sharpness +1 and gains Alert (fills HA/alchemy gauge when you take damage).
Deviant Gammoth's skill gives marathon runner/bludgeonor/normal and rapid up and gains Attack up Medium.
Deviant Mizutsune's skill gives critical eye +3/challenger +1 which becomes +2.
Deviant Malfestio gives HG earplugs/reload speed +3/steady hand and gains trap master.
Deviant Cenataur gives guard +2/quick sheath and gains scale sharpen (evading briefly boosts attack).
And lastly, Deviant Diablos gives attack up large/evade +2 and gains composed (hunter arts charge faster).

Chameleos, Teostra, and Kushala also got soul-esque skills of their own.
Chameleon Protection gives polar hunter/windproof high/negate bind.
Fiery Protection gives anti-theft/negate poison/autotracker.
And Steel Protection gives tropic hunter/fire res L/bio researcher.

And then there's Charm Up: doubles the skill points a charm gives.

There's also other multi-skills:

Hello Steady Hand, Honed Blade, and others.

@Tsurii I think they had those individual skills and equivalents in 2nd gen, but multi-skills to my knowledge weren't really a thing until 4th gen.

@CrazedCavalier Just because the gap got smaller between deviant armors doesn't mean those two got nerfed. Sneak on Silverwind makes sense with it's lackluster defence, especially if you use it for gunning, and Dreadking is still as general-purpose as ever, but now has extra insurance for G-Rank, and can potentially be devastating with the right talisman to bump up that adrenaline.

Those dragon souls would be neat if they weren't literally designed just to hard counter the other (Chameleon hard counters Daora, Fiery hard counters Chameleos and Steel hard counters Teostra).

And hold the phone... if Honed Blade still only gives Sharpness+1, doesn't that mean it kind of stinks now?

Edit: Oh, and third gen had it's share of multi-skills too, the aforementioned Honed Blade, Wrath Awoken and one exclusive, Ocean's Blessing. I get that 4th was when they went crazy with them, though.

@meleebrawler I said "indirectly nerfed", as other sets got at least serviceable skills. They're still pretty good, all in all.
And I don't think Talismans effect soul skills-- the same way they didn't effect multi-skills in 4/4U. Also, I specifically chose to say "weren't really a thing"-- I knew there were a couple in 3U, but 4U was where it got really widespread.

I'm just hoping the other skills on the Astalos set are good . Probably going to keep Repeat Offender since Hellblade kept Heavy Polish, Glavenus' "signature" skill. I'm expecting a throwaway skill like negate sleep or something.

@Joeynator3000 We've known Lunastra wasn't coming back since the demo datamine. From everything I hear she was just a slightly weaker Teostra anyways.

I haven't been paying attention to hacks/dataminers in general, so....Also yeah she was back in 2nd Gen, which is why I want her back, because they would've revamped her.

@Tsurii Really? I'm surprised.

And as I said, I know there were a couple multi-skills in 3U-- I guess my word choice was a bit too specific ("weren't really a thing").

@Tsurii It always seemed odd. I mean, in LR you're focused on getting from yellow to green sharpness, HR green to blue sharpness, and GR blue to white to purple? It felt like a bit of end-game power creep, to be honest.

EDITT: Also, Valfak's weapons go straight from white to red.

@Tsurii I already knew the game wouldn't be as great as 4U to begin with....so my hopes were already low for this game.

@Joeynator3000 Pretentious, much? How does a lack of purple sharpness ruin things?

@Tsurii I still think it looks a bit odd around everything else. How should I put this...? It looks like it was designed to be a fun fight first and foremost (much like Frontier monsters) rather than fitting into the ecology. So seeing it anywhere other than its own compartmentalized arena just feels odd
