This is what users on /r/MonsterHunter said about the tutorial in MH4G (Japanese version). Seems positive, so it looks like MH4U (in english) will work better for you. Happy Hunting!
Nice! I think I'm going to have my sister pre-order it in the next couple of days from walmart since I can then use her 10% discount! (she works there, heh)
Is the Circle Pad Pro a must have for this game, or will I be ok with out it?
I thought it worked great with the water levels in the last game but since this game doesn't have any I would say you might be ok. Still if you can find one cheap then I still recommend picking it up.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

...Then again there's the whole...multiple levels of height...? Whatever you call it, lol.

As long as I'm not swimming to those heights then I'm good.

It isn't necessary at all. I fought a G-rank Deviljho (higher difficulty monster) on a car ride, and I did fairly well! The game offers a virtual d-pad on the touch screen for you to use as the camera. You'll be fine with the virtual d-pad, but having the CPP is a very nice bonus. If you have the money, I'd recommend getting it, especially for 4U because this game has a fully analogue camera, unlike 3U.
i am part of a social group interested in uniting the world by painting it blue.
Blue blue.
make sure you're ordering the right size. the XL size is only available in Japan, I imported this one.
That's not entirely true. I got one from a friend that had a brother overseas in Europe and he bought 3 while there and they sold me one. Not even 2 weeks later the Nintendo store had them for sale here in NA but haven't restocked since they ran out I believe so there is some still floating around that aren't Japanese.
Under water hunting won't be in this? Am I rare for being one that liked under water hunting?
I hated the water monster hunts, but at the same time I loved them. They had a place, ya know? Like, it broke up the monotony a bit. Now, Abyssal lagiacrus and Ceadeus, those I hated. But Gobul and Lagi and Plesioth and all the other ones were great...

God so loved the world He sent His only Son- whoever believes on Him has eternal life. Unless you believe, you will die in your sins. Whoever believes, rivers of living water flow within them. John
i thought the underwater fights in tri were very interesting. it was a bit more difficult than on land but it was never frustrating to me. but i played on the wii with a classic controller. i can imagine it being way more difficult with a 3ds without second circle pad
