No he's talking about getting more stats from a higher ranked armor set of the same kind. I already noticed the Great Jaggi set has better stats then the low rank set.
Arc Armor set gives base 24*5 defense. You have to beat several LR Shagaru. Even in HR armor, he's still no pushover.
Jaggi S Armor set gives 1.5 times as much base defense - 36*5. You have to beat several HR Great Jaggi. You could probably beat him butt-naked at this point.
Seeing as how Caravan HR Jaggi would take at most 5 hours to unlock from when you beat LR Shagaru, and how much better Jaggi S is than Arc, there's no point farming LR Shagaru for anything other than weapon mats. If Arc armor gave at least 32 base defense per piece, I could see it being usable to mid-HR.

Yeah, Tri did a whole bunch of things differently. The way armor upgrading works now is how it used to work before Tri.
I was trying to commit myself into making the high rank Akantor set until I saw the materials. What the hell man. I'm not going to spend 20 hours farming for those materials only for it to be out performed by G rank armors. I think it's wiser to just skip H ranks and go straight for G ranks.

Another MH3U question (that may be relevant to MH4U) ...does the "+" at the end of a weapon name (e.g. Blood Wings +) signify a high rank weapon or is it just an improved weapon.

Improved. Weapons don't really have rank classifications but you're not going to find part obviously till you advance.

Gonna try and do a few high rank quests. I was originally going to work on getting full high rank Nerscylla armor but eff it, I need random materials from other monsters and I just don't want to put the time into armor that will be replaced a little later anyway.

WTF?? I decide to hunt a Khezu and I think I'm doing reasonably well when I red khezu suddenly appears! I didn't bring any dungbombs!! This is awful
EDIT: Ah, luckily I had wounded regular Khezu enough to run away, thank goodness
EDIT EDIT: Aaand it carted me, and red Khezu was back when I returned...
POST EDIT EDIT: Triple carted. This seems like a perfectly doable quest, I could tell I had gotten the original Khezu down to cap weakness, but unfortunately I had no cap items either
Pretty close to hitting G Rank, though trying to solo a Dalamadur is a pain since every random I hunt with keeps dying. I mostly want to get G Rank so I can start G rank expeditions, I'm most likely going to actually start G Rank quests once I finish all of the High Rank quests.(I already completed Low Rank in the Caravan and Guild)
It would be nice if you can help, though it'll have to be tomorrow since it's getting pretty late at my place. So I'll let you know when I'm ready for some hunting.
