Haha yeah, he likes to hide in very obvious places.

A good tip to tell if he's in the area is that the aim button on the touch screen changes from "absent" to "???".

So I hear he's weak to water weapons and that ranged attacks work well against him? I might need to build up a secondary ranged weapon to complement my primary long sword.

I did notice he fell really fast when I fought him with a water hunting horn, compared to the second time when I used a stronger non-elemental one.

So I'd say he is weak against water.

Bounce attacks make your weapon blunt a hell of a lot faster. If you're bouncing, you're hitting the wrong spot or it's time to get a new weapon.

Actually that's just Basarios, and the only part you can hit without bouncing is his legs. Which can be difficult sometimes when he's flailing around and stuff.

Break the chest off and you'll be able to do good damage there.

I have a pretty decent long sword for this point in the game, I think. He's still the only monster that has caused me to bounce an attack more than once or twice.

Just finished the initial fight with Zamtrios. That was a stunning battle. Although I couldn't help but laugh when he blew up like a pufferfish and started bouncing around the ice.

So how far is everyone...I might lay off this game for awhile even though I'm not far into it, I should beat some other games and wait for my team to get the game first before I continue, if I take a break and wait I shouldn't be bored right away, guess I will see what happens....when it comes to games I blow money and don't finish all the games right away...but I will pick at a quest here and there I guess.

Just dealt with the Gore Magala urgent (where you actually hunt him), and now I'm just taking a break from the story quests and dealing with the Hall quests.

There's so much to do I don't even know what I'm progressing on.

Just decked myself out in Nerscylla armor after hunting it a few times with a decent group online.

Oh, and I beat the Najarala. Barely. On my third life, after I'd run out of items almost completely. I think I'm going to work on accumulating materials before I go anywhere near that Gore Magala expedition that my cat apparently ran off to.

I'm in the island. In a point where my available quests are two gypceros from hell or two huge spiders from an even worse place

Well at least I can bring two cats with me now.

Hey guys, bear with a noob here for a second, if you may. My brother says he's going to buy 2 copies so we can play together. Is this a good game for beginners in the franchise? Or is it more for veterans?

Monster Hunter 4 is the best entry point in the series for beginners. You're always able to look up in-game help notes at any time. Make sure to pay attention to the NPCs, they give out important advice.

I recommend watching ProJared's Monster Hunter Beginner's Guide series if you begin to feel lost.

As a MonHun n00b myself, I can attest that this game is absolutely beginner-friendly for a series as famously inpenetrable as this one is.

I'm far, far away from knowing everything, and I've needed to ask some questions on here, but I've never felt lost whilst playing. The game does a good job of feeding you information at a decent pace.

Nope, wasn't me! It would be cool if I crossed paths with some of you all but yeah, I'm west coast some and some dude out east is impersonating me. :0 Haven't bought a 3DS yet, though I might soon. I am so tempted to run through Xenblade Chronicles again!
