Holy crap at the graphics, looks better than the Wii version. Best looking 3DS game... by far!

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
If this were true (just questioning), then why do the Samurai Warriors games keep getting localized? Just a quick glance at VGChartz shows that Monster Hunter sells way more than those over here, and it seems like the SW games have a lot more text (aka more expensive to localize).
Monster Hunter Tri sold half as many units as it did in Japan, which is pretty good imho. Granted, the Wii has a huge userbase, but when 3DS owners everywhere are more or less starved of games then I'd think that they'd jump on a game like this. And honestly, in a game like MH where there's more weapons than dialog, it's not going to matter much what "version" of English you use. Hell, the online chat in Tri even censored foreign cuss words, aftcr all.
Warriors games work on a rapid release cycle though - that is, they release so many of them, they only need to make a marginal profit on each for the overall strategy to be worthwhile. We've had... 8 or so Warriors games this year alone.
Monster Hunter on the other hand, can't afford to be marginal. It's a major project by a major publisher. If it was only going to sell reasonably, or break even, then Capcom would much rather spend its localisation resources on something it thinks would do better. Dragon's Dogma, for instance. That's getting a lot of Capcom's money right now.
Different games have different business models. It's useless comparing what Tecmo Koei does to what Capcom does. On top of that, Tecmo Koei is a different business in a different position to Capcom. Tecmo Koei is a successful business right now, and is profitable. It can take more risks, and spend money to try and develop markets. It was able to afford to set up a Canadian development studio for the sole purpose of producing "western" warriors games.
Capcom on the other hand, is struggling financially. It doesn't have the same resources, and is indeed outsourcing a lot and cancelling a lot of projects to concentrate on what is profitable.
As I said, business is complex. It's NOT a matter of "oh well, this will make us $1000 profit if we localise in the West. That's enough, let's do it!"
My point is that companies should localize DURING development, instead of waiting till AFTER the game is done being made.
If localizing is such a tedious procedure, then we wouldn't be seeing any Japanese games in the US at all. Let's just keep all the American games in America, all the European games in Europe, and all the Japanese games in Japan. Let's ignore the progression of globalization and just stick to our own countries. There. you happy now?
You can't localise until the conclusion of a game's development because things change. Dialogue changes, text changes, the manual needs to be written. Just like you can't subtitle a movie until it has been finished.
Localisation happens when a company will make enough profit to justify the project. Some games have lower sales expectations from the publishers than others.
Capcom may still localise it. But ONLY if Capcom, after doing the market modelling, decides the game will turn a reasonable (reasonable to them, not you) profit.
I really fail to see how you can find this so hard to understand.
What's interesting is that there's now FULL shadows under hunters and monsters, something MHTri and not even the HD Version of MHP3rd had (the latter I get is just P3rd with a layer of HD slapped on). Guess the 3DS' shaders are coming in handy because the Wii can have more polygon counts versus 3DS, but man, this is impressive. They must be using MT Framework mobile for this.
And that new blue helmed guy who resembles ChaCha (glad he's back!) looks mighty cool.
This game shot up near the top of my list now. Thank you Capcom for doing this :3

Keep it PG-13-ish.
so that D-pad on the touch screen.. wait, that controls the camera? because if that's so, im less inclined to get the second analogue.
And the shadows are not really anything major.. it's interesting that the 3DS version has it but the Wii didn't. it's something that stood out to be for some reason.
The D-Pad controls the camera I'm assuming...so does the D-Pad on the touch screen....and the L-Button....and the attachment. lol Multiple camera options and people still complain about them. xD

LOL If people are still complaining then you should not take em seriously. The fact that there's this many options and customization, i mean, you have to be happy. I'm gonna head over to the Unity forums and get a good laugh out of complaints.
People can never be pleased.
