Haha I agree about the not having to buy a new console thing, but really, just hearing an announcement of a western release of some kind of MH Hunter game would be great. Then I can deal with maybe having to buy a new console afterwards.

Saying that though, I'm interested to see if a portable MH game would be better or worse than a console one. I know I would take a portable one everywhere and get good hours out of it, but a console one would more likely be bigger, and the control scheme sounds more comfortable. Not sure. I guess we just have to wait till next week.

Actually @Fuzzy the latest portable MH (in NA) has around 80 monsters, more kinds of weapons and lots more stuff to do, while the latest home console game only has around 30 monsters and they seem to have taken out a lot of the features from the PSP games (while adding some new good ones too of course).

Good point @zez. I'm no real expert on the history of MH, but I'm guess they made Tri as some sort of entry to the series for a lot of people. Hopefully the next one has plenty more monsters to hang in my trophy room.

On a side note, I've just started another character on Tri (thought I would give bowgunning a go), and I can't believe how tedious the first hour or so is. Can't believe I had the patience to go through it all (but I'm happy was ).

Just played Okamiden. You can move the camera around with 4 buttons on the touch screen that's towards the edge of the screen in corresponding directions. Thought that would be a neat solution for camera controls. And yeah, I use my thumbs and always have since the beggining. My DSi barely gets fingerprints (or thumb prints, as I always use it for games that has 'buttons' such as SSFIV, Pokemon, etc) and has no scratches on the touch screen- no protective screen covers at all. I hope the MH team takes note of Okamiden's camera controls as a possible option if they allow customizing controls.

Well, from playing Okami, I'm guessing Okamiden wouldn't be as tedious as MH. Kinda figured it would be difficult to move the camera without a second analog while dodging whatever monster you're hunting. Not to mention keeping the camera on that monster...while moving/attacking...lol

srsly, I think the touch screen should simply function as your item bag.

I actually got used to the whole "L-trigger camera snapback thing", I could just face the monster, tap the button and it'd instantly be in my view. Worked pretty well until going underwater D:

That could work...I don't know why people say the item bag being on the touch screen is a bad idea. Just as long as they can fit all the other stuff on there as well. (talking about the map, HP/Stamina bars, that sort of stuff, lol)

No way, you have no control with that and you end up having to snap the camera into place a thousand times in a battle which is vomit-inducing Dx

They need to have full control whatever they end up doing, 'cause if L-centering is the only way to control the camera I know I won't be getting this probably along with hundreds of other fans >__>

@Bell: No reason that stuff can't be on the top screen, works fine on the PSP. They could use some cool 3D effects to make the map seem in front of the action or something

I only played the demo of Okamiden. The small 'arrows' don't fill up the screen. At all. Having items and arrows for camera control is a win-win. Play the demo and maybe you'll understand what I'm talking about

@komicturtle: I can kinda see that working, though I'd much rather have buttons for controlling it. It'll be interesting to see what Capcom goes with if they do announce the game. :3

Yeah but....it would ruin the awesome 3D scenery. xD

I hope the hud's on the top screen myself. I like seeing how much health I have with my peripheral vision, and it's harder to see on the touch screen.

Well the embargo from the Captivate event ends tomorrow morning, so if it was announced there we'll find out tomorrow; if not, we'll have to wait. That is, of course, if Capcom is even developing Monster Hunter on 3DS, a theory for which there's very little supporting evidence, to be honest.

Looks a lot like MH monster to me, probably a leviathan. Assuming the image is legit, I'd say there's a good chance MH3DS will be announced tomorrow. Ono did say there was a big 3DS announcement coming this month, after all. :3

It looks like the other announcement will be BoFVI, which I doubt would be on the 3DS (y'never know though).
