I had recently been watching the Japanese version on Youtube for 3ds. I have gotta say that the game is so darn epic. I cannot wait until March because this game just looks too epic. Who else is awaiting this behemoth masterpiece by Capcom? This looks like another gem produced from them for the 3ds!

I own the game. If you have any questions about it, let me know. I have to warn you though, there's already several topics on this game, so you're running the risk of overlapping with someone else's discussion/getting this topic locked.

Well, it really is a "Special Edition" version of Tri, so the music, set-up to the game, the harbour, and overall design of the game are identical, so don't think of it as a sequel at all. In fact, especially if you play the regular offline campaign, it will be quite a while before you reach any new content, when you do, of course there is plenty of it, and it is very fun. If you have any more specific questions, please ask away.

I'm stuck on the Barroth in Tri - is it easier or harder in Trultimate?

This is a signature.
I mentioned signatures, which makes this a meta-signature,
A meta-signature mentioning meta-signatures is a meta-meta-signature.
Hence, this signature is infinitely meta. Does Meta-Knight have a self-awareness of his own name?

I have never played any Monster Hunters, so how many hours should I be getting out of this one?

Easy 500+.

Also to the Barroth guy, if you can't beat him, there's no way you'll be able to beat the G missions.

Also, the monster's aren't that hard. If you have the right armour, weapon and you know their attacks and when to dodge, you'll be fine.

I'd say if you own a Wii, it wouldn't hurt to pick up Tri and play with that for a bit to get a feel for the game. You won't have to wait the four months until the release next year.

As far as difficulty, I wouldn't say its any easier or harder, though I have noticed some monsters have new attacks in this one.

Barroth/Boruborosu is actually a lot easier than most of the other monsters in the game. He's a good practice for a lot of the other large monsters that come later. The ones that are harder are the quicker, more agile monsters like Barioth/Beriorosu and Gigginox/Giginebura.

I was stuck on what I like to call the "Sakura Rioreia", or what is commonly called the "Pink Rathian". This is one of the few games where I'm happy when I get my butt kicked. :)

As big of a number as 500 is, Aviator isn't lying. Once you get into it, you will be hooked. Before I knew it I had 300+ hours sunk into Tri. (And then some, lol.)

You wouldn't have gotten a lot of hours if you stuck to offline only in Tri.

Multiplayer is where it's at.

And now, the offline is huge, and I'm pretty sure when you have 1/2 people online you get to bring Cha-Cha (or the other one) with you.

I used to own a PSP a long time ago and I downloaded a demo for a Monster Hunter game on the PSP, but I found it hard as f***, why is this? it was only a demo and I hadn't put in any hours whatsoever, what gives? How do you play Monster Hunter anyway? is it like other JRPGs or is as I've heard and really grind heavy? I'm a big RPG fan but I've never enjoyed truly grind heavy RPGs, The closest one to MH i've ever liked was Final Fantasy III on DS, now that was truly grindy if you were trying to master all the classes, I put in way over 150 hours into that alone, probably more.
Edit: Which version should I get if I were to buy it? by the time it's out I'll have both a 3DS and a Wii U, but I know the 3DS version doesn't have online, so that's a problem.

Wii U version.

Also, Monster Hunter is not friendly to newcomers. You will die if you don't have the right equipment and/or skills.

The great thing about MH is that it's not hard to learn. You can go on a hunt without getting hit once you learn how to read what attack a monster is about to do. And as you hunt, you will increase your carves etc and have the equipment to help you survive when you have to fight 3 monsters at once (or when you stuff up).

You can bring them into a multiplayer match. I've done it several times already on 3G.
