This is 3DScraft. A Minecraft homebrew game created by smea, who you may know as
the creator of DScraft, which was MC for DS. What's so unique about this?
IT HAS INFINITE WORLDS.
Holy. Not even the console versions had this. This is amazing!
from smea's twitter:
''what's this ? infinite, modifiable worlds generated in real time are already a thing in 3dscraft ? yes.''
Woot woot! This will release with the 3DS homebrew channel, also created by smea. (In a couple weeks!)
No, not only for New 3DS.
As stated by smea, the old 3DS will also support all of this.
''it also works on old3ds. it'll run better/faster and have better controls on new 3ds but that's it.''
Oh, and this game is open source, so you can continue/edit this project if you want. Just know that someone
WILL continue this project.
Seeing it in motion makes all the difference. Also, why doesn't he simply make this an official release? Modding can be easily featured by simply allowing players to import textures from files on the SD Card, and everything else can be implemented as extensions. The whole Homebrew part is more or less pointless.

I agree about the texture part, but having him do this as an official release would cost quite alot of work, money, and permission from Mojang.

If this is actually a straight port, or using a good amount of code from the original Minecraft, that'd be an issue. But this is 3DSCraft, and Mohjang isn't the owner of the very idea of a pixelated world made up of blocks you can assemble freely. And yes, I know it's expensive to release on a console, even when the game is almost done. But on the other hand, the creator could seek the help of a publisher to get that part out of the way.
Either way, for the sole reason that it's Homebrew, I find this project dumb. If smea (is that actually smealum?) was really serious about this, he'd find a way to bring this to a good audience, and there are means and possibilities to do so in a less pretentious way than making it dependant of a hack.
What does this prove? Nothing. It doesn't have anything like monsters, minerals, trees, underground caverns, anything else minecraft also has to worry about as far as I can see. The infinite worlds also wouldn't be solved. The reason the PS4 doesn't have it is because of the save file size. That's right, the PS4 is capable of it, but the save file limit makes it limited. The textures don't even look as nice. This does nothing to show that the 3DS would be can able of Minecraft. The 3DS flat out doesnt have enough juice to run it.

First of all, this is in alpha. This isn't the real deal yet. What do you think he would do first? Add mobs, water, caves, or get an infinite world working? He hasn't even worked on it for 2 months. Dscraft had all those things so dont worry.
and about textures, those are his own, as in he made it himself.
Just like dscraft you will probaly have the ability to insert the PC texture packs. I for example have Sphax BDCraft as my dscraft texture pack.

My point is that this doesn't prove Minecraft can work the 3DS, there just isn't enough power to run it well without doing some modification to the DS. Somethings got to go wrong somewhere with a normal 3DS. I'm mentioning those things because it might look like it can run well, but that's because there's nothing to run. I'm saying this doesn't show Mojang could put MC on the 3DS.
I know instead of idiots making these type of things ... I sound like a moron right now but this type of things is dumb. They should of released it for 3DS or Wii U.
