What kind of world do we live in where somebody would consider two standard screws to be such a barrier?

Seriously, its not a problem. The original 3DS had it's battery cover screws in the exact same place. However, the new 3DS also keeps it's Micro SD behind this exact same cover.

Most people will never remove their SD card once it's in anyway. Even for backup, N3DS allows wireless transfer to PC.

Weird design choice, but a non-issue.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I think you just need a small philips from a glasses repair kit. Correct me if I am wrong

After some research, yes, it's just the small standard philips screw. Just buy a cheap repair kit and you are set.

Hmmm, looks like my preparation in anticipation of the New 3DS is not over. I'd hate to get my 32GB micro SD and New 3DS XL together and then not be able to play because no screwdriver.

Glad I saw this thread tbh

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Let their parents do it, simple as that. If a kid's too young to use a screwdriver, it probably wouldn't even know what a microSD is.

Many children's toys contain batteries behind covers fastened with screws. I would not give an 11 month old a screwdriver, I would change the battery for them.

Likewise, assuming a minimum 3DS user age of 3 years (using a game with an EC rating) if the installed 4GB card needs replacement, then I would do it.

For those that want to trade security for convenience, the cover does not need to be fastened with the screws. It can just be clipped in place.
