@BLP_Software Yup, that's correct. The Trilogy takes place between 1 and 2, and Hunters takes place between Prime 1 and 2.

@Snaplocket To be honest, not really. It's probably the hardest Metroid game in terms of damage, feels like Samus is made out of paper at the beginning of the game, you really need to abuse that counter move. Map design is very straightforward though, it's actually difficult to get lost.

That said, save stations are plentiful and dying places you at the door of the previous room.

@Snaplocket Unlike other Metroid's your mission here will keep you more focused. While you explore to get new abilities and get stronger you are also hunting down the 40 Metroids and that focus never changes. As for the story, if you didn't like the previous games then you won't like this either. The story is light but the adventure is grand.

Amazon says my copy will ship around the 20th (I didn't choose 2 Day shipping). Guess I can wait a bit.

@BLP_Software That has happened to me a few times. So frustrating when it's a game you really want.

@RR529 If you use Amazon often, Prime is worth every penny. Once I got Prime, I use Amazon for everything now. More than get my moneys worth. Prime gives 2 day shipping free, sometimes same day if you order early enough. If you don't use Amazon much, it's not worth it though.

@Snaplocket What @Spoony_Tech said. These games have very straightforward plots (the Prime games are much more meaty in terms of lore) and while all games save Fusion have little to no handholding, this one doesn't have any pathfinding problems at all. You literally can't proceed to the next area unless you've cleared all metroids in the current one.

@MarcelRguez Plus from what I've heard, just like the original absolutely zero backtracking is required if you're just looking to finish the game.

@meleebrawler Yes, at least from what I've seen so far. It's pretty much the same structure, really, even if the rooms themselves are almost completely different.

This to me is the first 2d Metroid to capture that Prime feel. From the graphics to the sound everything feels like Prime on a 2d plain.

Of course it's the only 2d version to release after the Prime series as well.

So this game is a good representation of a 3D game that's seen as a good representation of the 2D games on a 3D plane
