I loved the Metroid Prime series, definately amazing, but can we expect to see one on Nintendo's new handheld? It seems as though Nintendo have set the Story-Line up so that they can make a sequel as if you unlock the Secret Ending on the end of Metroid Prime 3 Corruption... well see the clip for yourself on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pQtbFidSf0
See the blue ship following Samus? Looks a bit like one of the Hunters who hated Samus in Metroid Prime Hunter's ship is following her. I can't remember exactly which one i think it might be Sylux or Noxus i honestly can't remember exactly. Anyway, my point is, this definately points to a sequel, do you think they'll make one for the 3DS?
I'd rather have Retro make a new 2.5D game, honestly. Like Metroid Dread. <3
Ughhhhhhhh
Hey there's even a message in MP3 that definitely points towards Dread: "Experiment status report update: Metroid project 'Dread' is nearing the final stages of completion.""
I'm afraid we won't see Metroid anytime soon. Every game in the series since Prime 1 has sold less and less. Retro moved on to Donkey Kong, while Team Ninja's effort saw a lot of criticism. Another Hunters-spinoff seems like the most likely direction for a 3DS outing, but I think they are going to let the series cool for a while.
I'm kinda sick of all these Metroid games lately (even if they were pretty good, Other M is a fave of mine). Nintendo needs to try focusing more on their other sci-fi franchises imo.

But we haven't gotten a completely new 2D Metroid since Prime, either. Retro finished DKCR, and Nintendo has probably gotten a better idea of what works and what doesn't. Project Dread could have been in development for a long time before it was postponed, and it's not like there's no one to finish it.
It's Nintendo's IP, and they can do what they want with it. Without Itoi, I doubt they could pull off a new Mother game, and re-releasing any of the three games would be reckless, if not suicidal, for Nintendo.
BTW, Mother isn't really sci-fi at all. I can't really think of any sci-fi Nintendo games, except maybe the newer Metroids.
Should've gave my two cents on the topic in my previous comment, but... honest, though I would enjoy a Prime Sequel for 3DS, I think it's better suited to a 2.5D one. I have my doubts about Dread, I think that one was sorta buried (though feel free to prove me wrong Nintendo!), but just in general, haven't had a Metroid with 2D game play since Fusion (Zero Mission was a remake with a bit of new content at the end), and I miss that game play!
Feel free to add me on the Nintendo Network: ShadJV
Here's my 3DS FC, always looking for Pokemon X Friend Safaris: 2191-7643-5167
Peace!
I rather have a New Metroid Prime on Cafe. Huge TV and HD too would be fantastic for the metroid series.
Currently playing: 3DS: KI: Uprising Wii: Xenoblade Chronicles "Heh, heh... Thanks... You're nice. Umm... Can I ask... a question? Your friends... What kind of... people are they? I wonder... Do these people... think of you...as a friend?"

Or a re-release of Metroid Prime: Hunters for Project Café. It has the great multiplayer mode and the game would certainly benefit from pointer controls thanks to the Wiimote+nunchuk.

Isn't Star Fox considered a sci-fi game?.
Probably. Most people don't understand what qualifies as sci-fi, so it wouldn't surprise me.
A new Prime game would be pointless. Prime 3 resolved everything related to Phazon, so there's really no reason to continue the story. I'd like a new sidescroller with some areas that you explore in first-person. I've also thought it would be cool if you could shoot into the background and foreground, but I imagine would be hard for them to pull that off without causing some of the problems Other M had.
