Forgive me and redirect me if there is a thread of this particular nature, I haven't been on NintendoLife until the other day for a very long time, it's good to be back.
So, obviously we have nothing about Metroid for the 3DS, so this is a speculation/dream about what we could want from Nintendo.
I personally would love to have another Super Metroid/ Metroid Fusion. Maybe do it in the 2.5D so the 3D could look very cool.
Keep it simple like Super Metroid. Not much story, though I did like the haunting story pieces from Fusion.
What do you guys think?

Man, a Metroid for the 3DS would be great. The 3DS should get a Metroid with sprites a la Shantae: Pirate's Curse, while Wii U should get a FPS a la Metroid Prime (though it shouldn't be a new entry in the Prime-series, the trilogy has already ended)

I totally agree. I really enjoy the 2D metroids, never could get myself to enjoy the prime ones...

Personally, there aren't many games I want more than Metroid V. I think it should be pure 2D with the best sprite-scaling and animation ever seen. All the beams, missiles... Loads of new bosses. Basically, try to make something even better than Super Metroid/Zero Mission/Fusion.

I want to see a new first person Metroid game on their handheld again with a form of multiplayer that has bots, local and online options that's akin to Metroid Prime 2's. I would like it to be based upon the events of Metroid Prime Hunters, without it being called MPH2, as I feel there's a lot of material the Metroid Series can tap into with that game but I don't want to build ridiculous expectations for it. Calling it Metroid Prime Hunters 2, with Hunters being my favorite Metroid game, would personally generate huge expectations that I'm not quite sure they would be able to reach.

This. I like this because we can have our fps Metroid for those of us who are Prime inclined, I have Prime but I have issues playing it.
I don't usually care for my classic 2d games to be in 3d, thankfully I could put this past me for Skyward Sword which was glorious.
Also we can have our original 2d Metroid for the handheld, with many amazing features. make the game much longer.
Maybe have a sequence in a boss fight where Samus faces the boss with her back towards us and we have to use the gryoscope to shoot the boss.

Still hoping for Dread, even though I want it remain 2D, I can see them doing something like 2.5D.

2.5D Fusion style would be nice. Maybe they could make it an actual sequel to Fusion.

I've made a control scheme for a 3DS Metroid, if it were to be in the Prime style again. You can check it out in my signature.

Let me know what you think!

Sounds good, but I would hope that they would add circle pad pro support. I'm not big on not being able to look on my own. That's one of the reasons I have a hard time playing Prime.

I'd love Metroid for the 3DS. Something like Other M would be nice, despite the actual game being bad, its mechanics worked great. Gameplay wise it was a good 2D/3D hybrid.

Great thread! I want to say that I am not very interested in Nintendo franchises. Actually I have only one Nintendo game - Zelda OoT (only because I want to try it, since it's the highest rated game ever). And Fire Emblem, but that was developted by Inteligent Systems.

But I am really interested in Metroid! It's the only mature game from Nintendo and I am desperatly waiting for a 3DS title. I hope they will make it in 2.5D. I am pretty sure that we will see it at some point on 3DS. It's been 10 years since the last 2D Metroid game. That's too long and Nintendo has to see that fans really want this game. But I hope it won't be developed by Retro.

I did like Metroid: Other M, to a very precise point. I love the gameplay and some of the environments, but overall the game did suck. I wish I hadn't sold it so I could play a recent Metroid title. If Nintendo could announce a Metroid title and release Super Metroid for the 3DS virtual console as a hold over, I'd be happy. I have my original Super Nintendo with Super Metroid but it would be nice to have it on my 3DS.

Wouldn't it be lovely if the game

1.Was fully 2D like Super Metroid/Metroid Fusion

2.Has lots of endings unlike those two and depending on how fast you beat the game, the story changes.

3.Makes use of musical instruments like guitar, piano and violins only more atmospheric.

4.An online mode which plays very similarly to Dark Moon only its Metroid?

......Yeah that would sound GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! too bad its just a dream.

I'm surprised about Metroid and Starfox though. Star Fox made it to N64 but not Metroid. Metroid made it to GBA but not Star Fox. Both made it to Gamecube and DS but they were both under tie except in DS because there's only one Star Fox game and two Metroid games.

Metroid made it to Wii but not Star Fox and finally Star Fox made it to 3DS but not Metroid. What does it mean.......?

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why
