Eh. Megaman Legends seemed like a cheap Zelda knockoff to me. Megeman should stay in 2D

If Capcom ever does decide to announce another Mega man game nobody will believe it's really coming.
The blue bomber is dead. Well he had a good run I guess.
Pretty soon Mario and Zelda will be next and there'll be nothing left for us old timers to hope for.

NO! Don't you EVER say that! Zelda will always be here. Forever. Always watching. Always.

"Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends...

I can't help but at least partly think that all the negative press and backlash of RE:Mercs is partially responsible (the other being the high MSRP of 3DS games/system) for Capcom's perceived viability of the 3DS as a development platform...and having closer ties to Sony at the top, especially being armed with bad sales data, probably helped with their decision to drop this game.

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

I'm very disappointed in the 3DS at the moment. I'm going to seriously consider selling after I play Super Mario 3D later this year. Nintendo has really dropped the ball on this. As much blame as Capcom gets here, third parties don't cancel games on a system left and right for no reason. People should be taking Nintendo to task for how pathetic a failure the 3DS has been thus far.

Capcom already proved that it's possible to have a hit game on the 3DS if you have compelling content, name recognition, and nothing that screws the customer over. Super Street Fighter IV 3D may not be perfect, but it moved a lot of copies even with a small install base.

The viability of a platform has little to do with how many people actually own the system. It has to do with the buying habits of the people who do own it. The PSP now has a decent library of games, but it suffered a lot of dry spells because a lot of people were either pirating games or hacking it and using emulators to play older games. Overall it was not a profitable platform for most developers, at least in the West. Its games did sell well in Japan, and Japan ended up with a much more robust library as a result.

While iOS does have a bigger install base, Android is catching up fast and has already overtaken most of the competition in the cell phone market. Despite this, Android still lacks developer support for the simple reason that people aren't buying apps and games on Android. The situation is even more ridiculous in the tablet market, with customers waiting for compelling apps before committing to Android tablets and developers waiting for people to buy Android tablets before providing compelling apps.

With the original DS, there was relatively little content at first. Sure, there was a Metroid demo and a port of an old Mario game, but overall the games came in at a trickle. Nintendo provided a lot of the best content early on, but once the system got on its feet the third parties really stepped up to the plate to help create one of the best and most varied game libraries any system has ever had.

The 3DS isn't dead just because some games have been cancelled. I was looking forward to Megaman Legends 3 myself, but I believe internal issues at Capcom have a lot more to do with it than concerns about sales. Mercenaries may not have sold well, but that was their own fault. When you can't even rent a game to try it out without creating permanent save data, you're not going to have a hit on your hands. SSF IV 3D has already proven that the 3DS is a viable platform for those willing to step up to the plate with strong content (apart from the static backgrounds!).

Give the 3DS some time. Even with all its dry spells, the PSP ended up with a pretty good library. Good things come to those who wait.

That doesn't mean much. If that was the case, then why hasn't "operation rainfall" convinced Nintendo to bring Xenoblade to America? Complaining is not the best form of persuasion.

You know what sucks for Capcom? They do this right before Comic-Con. So, they've dug their own grave.

Those saying "It can't be because Inafune left", well, it has to be one of the reasons. This project started because Inafune kept requesting Capcom to allow him to start working on Megaman Legends 3. He started this project and left abruptly. Then, we saw Megaman Universe get cancelled. And this one- which Capcom had considered cancelling but fans kept supporting and putting much effort in working on this game. It was a very promising project and one of the most exciting because of the involvement of fans and the actual developers working on the game together. To see all this effort and support pretty much go to waste is a kick to the gut.

If only they released that Prototype demo... I mean, at least release that...

Why? Why!? WHY!?!?!?

I'm back (for the moment)!

This honestly does not surprise me (seeing as every good game that was announced is now getting the knife) it's because no one is taking Nintendo or it's 3DS seriously...

because it's a fan campaign that's been around for not even a month and expecting it to be announced after a month would be incredibly stupid?

Actually letting fans' opinions matter, being a sequel to a game people wanted a sequel to, not being a guaranteed 1,000,000 seller just by being announced (they might actually have to put in effort for advertising, oh noes!), a Capcom sequel that doesn't have a 4 in the title that required lots of effort. No wonder it was cancelled.
