You aren't required to preorder. I would talk to the manager next time and if that person was the store manager ask him for the number of the district manager. Also if you haven't fill out the survey and give a negative experience. Management looks at that stuff. Geez my manager would have cursed me out if he found out I was doing that.

Sorta silly that the guy did it anyway... Gamestops have switched their ranking policy. While preorders are important it is not as big as it used to be.

For the most part, my local Gamestops are all pretty cool. I dropped in today, saw a stack of codes on the counter and asked if I could help them get rid of some.

...and that's all of them.
Redemption of the codes ends tomorrow. I think it should be pretty self explanatory.

I really want a diancie. So if any of you get extras like with this gengar; I'll gladly give a home to one of them.

(It will be distributed via code too, right?)

OP here. I just filled out the survey with negative feedback. I first found out about the Gengar distribution right here on NintendoLife. I just kinda skimmed through the article though, so when the guy said I HAD to pre-order I wasn't sure if he was telling the truth, but I was skeptical.

I don't know if he works for commission, or maybe they'd fire him if he doesn't meet a certain "pre-order quota" but Gamestop really needs to change how they run their business.
A few years ago, before I knew about the survey thing, one of the employees (a hot girl) flirted with me and asked if I liked transformers, I said yes. When I got home I looked at the receipt and found out I had unknowingly pre-ordered some transformers game I had never even heard of. True story.

I don't "hate" gamestop, but they could definitely be better.

I don't hate them either since the people at mine are really nice. I just hate the idea of having to go to one to get a special Pokemon. Why can't they just make them giveable over wifi.

My local Gamestop staff sent me an image text of a couple of codes for Diancie. I didn't even need to drop by, but I will soon to pick up some of my preorders. If they have another large stack of them, I'll ask for some more to distribute here on NL in the same manner I've been doing so in the past.

This. I'm not using gas just to drive to GS for a pokemon. Also it feels silly walking in there just for a code. Looks like I'm being forced to do that if I want Diance though.

@KickAzz_Gaming: Sorry, I'm not going to send any codes out to specific people here. If and when I get extra codes, I'll put them in a picture file and purposely make it slightly difficult to redeem at a glance, like I have with Smash and Gengar, so people have a fair shot at them. I'll be sure and post them in a relevant thread though if I get some. It'll probably be far easier to just go to a GameStop and grab one yourself though regardless of distance. The promotion is just starting. Maybe try calling ahead of time and asking nicely if they'd save you one?
