I'm a 50 year old male and know several players who are even older. Gaming has no age limits anymore.
Animal Crossing in particular attracts a lot of mature and/or female gamers.

Most reviews gave it mixed to negative ratings. On the negative side, author Andy Slaven commented that Urban Champion showed that the NES could not do a proper one-on-one fighting game, calling it "amusing at times" but criticizing its lack of precision in its controls.[4] Writer Levi Buchanan noted it as one of the weakest NES games for the Virtual Console.[5] GameSpot's Jeff Gerstmann called it tedious when it was originally released, and now it's "about as boring as it can possibly be."[6] GamePro described it as a second tier Virtual Console game.[7] 1UP.com's Jeremy Parish commented that he would rather have nothing at all on the Virtual Console in its debut week than Urban Champion.[8] He also cited it as an example of a poor game that gamers would still buy for the e-Reader.[9] He listed it as one of the worst Virtual Console games.[10] 1UP.com's Patrick Klepek criticized Nintendo for releasing only this and Baseball in one week, calling both poor games.[11] Writer Bob Mackey called it questionable, calling it the "Bad Street Brawler of its day".[12] It appeared as a skin in Tetris DS.[citation needed] GameSpy's Phil Theobald called it awful, criticizing its cameo in Tetris DS.[13] IGN's Lucas M. Thomas called it too shallow for an NES game, adding that there was no reason to purchase it.[1] He also commented that it didn't deserve the distinction of being Nintendo's first head-to-head fighting game.[14] IGN AU's Cam Shea called it "god awful", and "worse than actually falling down a manhole."[15] Screw Attack advised that Wii owners not waste their money on it, calling it simple and slow.[16]

On the positive side, video game developer Ron Alpert, however, found it to be an acceptable game, calling it one of the simplest of its day, but also an easy game to pick up and play.[17] Since its release, most consumers gave five stars to the 3D Classics version of Urban Champion for the Nintendo 3DS.[18]..... in other words... buy Urban Champion

The denpa men series. Hours of fun.

For something totally different, try Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward or Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies. Both are visual novels. They require a lot of reading, but they're both interactive and very engaging. They're very different in tone, but have a similar cycle of story -> investigation -> puzzle-solving.

Zero Escapes is a thriller that definitely caters to an adult audience with its dark storytelling, mature dialogue, and flashes of grotesque violence.

Phoenix Wright is much more light-hearted. There's plenty of humour, the characters are charming, and the court sequences are exciting.

I disagree, it's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is the best 3DS game ever.

I want to hear from all of the mature 3DS owners. I'm 45 and a father of two who really enjoys gaming. I use my 3DS at night when I'm relaxing talking with my wife. Currently I'm only playing Mario Kart 7, but would be interested in some suggestions on games.

1. Shin Megami Tensei 4
2. Fire Emblem Awakening
3. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
4. Project x Zone (If you like Capcom and Sega Characters)
5. Castlevania Lords of Shadows.
6. Metal Gear Solid 3D
7. Pokemon X/Y (people might consider it kiddy, but I consider it a lot of fun)
8. Legend of Zelda a Link Between Worlds. (Extremely fun game)
9. Ace Combat Assault Horizon (if you can find one LOL)
10. Street Fighter 4 3D
11. Professor Layton
12. Resident Evil Revelations
13. Shinobi (if you like to get raged)
14. Rune Factory 4 (very nice RPG based farm sim)
15. Donkey Kong Country (a challenging platformer)

I can still keep going but I think the above list should be enough for now

Most of the people I speak with about the 3DS are my age (29) or older. I think a lot of the RPGs are going to appeal to adults since they require more strategical thinking. As other people have mentioned, Fire Emblem is a great choice. Others that may pique your interest are Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Bravely Default.

I've been a gamer since I was a toddler so I've had a great deal of experience testing out all gaming "genres" at different ages. Other than RPGs (which I've loved ever since my adolescence), I really enjoy platforms like Yoshi, Kirby and Mario. The mini-games within the latest 3DS releases offer some fun gameplay with others, including significant others. One of my all-time favorite games is Animal Crossing. AC is one of those series that can really appeal to all ages because a lot of it is so customizable. New Leaf would be a great choice for someone just getting into the 3DS, no matter what age they are. With the option to visit other players' towns, it's especially fun for couples to play together.

Best 3DS game is system settings. Have about 500 hours on that bad boy. So much replay-ability and it's pretty challenging too. I'd give it an 11/10. Must have for any 3DS owner.
