With most mario games, you don't have to have mad gaming skills, you just need to know what you are doing....
What I am saying, is that in most mario levels, you do not have to keep moving, just be careful...in some of them, they will force you to stay on a moving platforms and you would have to avoid obstacles...Boring.....

Yet ANOTHER reason I like super mario sunshine.
It was this one obstacle located in a sand castle.
Every block was sand block, (A block that will disappear if you stand on it) therefore, you would have to keep moving no matter what!

I'm about to go play that lovable game I miss so much.
(believe it or not, I still have a game cube)

Let's just say game reviewers are often awful players and idiots and leave it at that. Heck, if you need a good example, see Gamespot's coverage of Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, which came down to 'I couldn't beat the third boss so this game sucks'.

I really wish Nintendo Power could be revived. We could have a decent reviewers and games on our list.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

I just wish every mario game did what galaxy did with the green stars. You play through once and it was fairly straight forward, then once you get green stars the difficulty increases especially when you get to star world green stars.

^This, just this. If you seriously think Mario is getting boring (and after Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Mario & Luigi Dream Team and the latest Mario 3D World trailer to boot), you're just delusional or have ridiculously unrealistic standards.

As someone who normally prefers Sonic over Mario any day of the week, I have to wholeheartedly disagree with that. The opposite has been true for me this year in particular. :-/

I think Mario is better now than ever. If you give me the choice between the original Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii I'll pick Wii any day. They might not be as original as the older games but I think they are higher quality.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

You gotta be blind or stupid or perpetually high to state that Sonic is in better shape than Mario.

Mansa

wonder what they are going to do next.

Do you think they are going to do a sequel or something new?

No seriously...I got no clue.

Is there a game that allows you to play in bower's shoes? Besides mario and luigi: inside bowser story and paper mario. (for all grammer nazi's forgive me if I used the plural incorrectly) Mario won't necessarily have to be the antagonist. I just find the possible moves bowser could use interesting.

Or maybe the secret behind mario's cap! It did sorta play a big role in mario bros 64 (DS)

EDIT: I looked it up only to find out that the only reason nintendo gave him a hat in the first place is because it was hard to animate his hair when jumping during the early period of games.

The reason behind Mario's "downgrade" is because Nintendo is watering it down for younger players. The problem with kids nowadays is that they give up far too easily, so Nintendo makes easier games so they'll keep playing them. Nintendo needs to go back to the skill tier strategy they used to use. Kirby games were easy, Mario games were relatively difficult. If Nintendo still made difficult games, or at least games with a sharper difficulty curve, they could hook the kids, but then push them up over time. Permanent invincibility items aren't going to help anyone get better. Sure, make the game winnable, but give the game a decent enough challenge for it to be rewarding. Super Mario 3D World looks fun, but the degree of linearity is just heartbreaking. Mario games aren't supposed to be Metroid, but being able to explore a little bit doesn't hurt. Super Mario Galaxy is a good example. The levels were varied, you knew where to go, but you could find all sorts of nooks and crannies in each galaxy also. Nintendo needs to go back and make Mario a game that has enough variety to appeal to a gamer no matter what they're in the mood for. Hard, easy, platforming, collecting, exploring, Mario should be a bundle of them all. So even now, 3D World is bringing some new things, but is taking things away also.

3D World at 60fps will be even easier. (Still not sure why I don't like 3D Land whether its the poor framerate that stops me playing it how I want to or I am just not interested in the whole idea.)

Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii version - Don't think a 30fps version will be acceptable to me even though I think I would prefer normal controls).
Kirby's Adventure
Warioland The Shake Dimension

Were all never boring.

No desire to collect star coins whatsoever. (I did with Mario 64 when I accept they were needed for technical reasons. But now we should just have more much more difficult levels).

Definitely prefer the time related grades you get with Sonic Generations. (I didn't continue until I had A's on the main levels - Never had trouble getting to the end of the next level.)

If they had waited until now to do NSMBU / NSMB2 they could have been far far better. Just put the effort into the Wii U one they do with the 3D Ones (That don't sell as well anyway) make the 3DS one 60fps. (If they really have forgotten and have to take apart SMB3 and SMBW and find the fun parts and build games around than so be it.)

“30fps Is Not a Good Artistic Decision, It's a Failure”
Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.

Its not that Mario games are not what they used to be, its that those who grew up with Mario games on the NES and SNES need to learn that Mario games need to evolve. And they did.

I used to love SMB 1-3, Super Mario World, and Super Mario 64, heck I still revisit those games on a yearly basis, but I've learned to adapt to the new Mario games such as New Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Land 3D because they are amazing games and deserve it. Sure, I prefer the DS and 3DS Mario games over the console Mario games, but they're so damn good and bring me back to a time when Mario was all the rage and Nintendo was king of the world in video games. Fast forward 20+ years later and he still is thanks to the 3DS being the top selling video game console at the moment and the 2 Mario titles selling like crazy for it.

No, no, no, this is the exact problem. Most of the recent Mario titles have gone backwards from Galaxy instead of going forward or anywhere particularly new beyond "hey this new powerup is a thing!"

I understand the need for nostalgia games here and there, it's just been too much though.

Super Mario 3D World doesn't seem like a downgrade. It looks like a fresh new take on the Mario series, boasting with creativity, creative level design, beautiful graphics, catchy music, and is a step forward in the multiplayer Mario industry.

Having said that, I wish the same thing could be said to Sonic.... He's so hated. I'm sympathizing him because of how innovative Lost world actually is and that people didn't like the game in the end.....

Really! The new game is that bad? D:
I saw the ing review for (which gave it a poor rating) and decided not to listen to them...What is at the end that players don't like? (I'm okay with spoilers)

@kkslider I honestly can't blame nintendo for that. Like I said before, I think they are starting to run out of ideas for mario...So it would not be too surprising if the games continue to go backwards or whatever...
