I'm fine with just the New Super Mario on Wii U. I have to have one Mario Bros, then Mario Kart, a Donkey Kong and I recently became of fan of Smash Bros. After that, I'll just play whatever other games come along.

Waluigi should have his own game "Waluigi's Mansion" after seeing Luigi getting rich with ghost hunting Waluigi decides to become a ghost hunter but without the nescessary equipment he ends having to find a way out of the cursed mansion while grabbing as much money as he can!

As long as they don't make something as uninspired as NSMB 2...

I didn't enjoy Super Mario 3D Land as much as previous games either. It lacked that "something" Mario games usually have. That inexplicable magic.

I agree with you here. 3D land is a fun game don't get me wrong but some of the levels are a bit disappointing. Like Boo's haunt for example. Its suppose to be non linear but instead its straight forward. But to be fair the game was interfered by the 2011 tsunami in Japan so I can understand some things which aren't entertaining. But some of the levels are really fun and look gorgeous.

I think only a few mario games to me are downside. Aside 3D land, there's New Super Mario Bros 2, Sticker Star, Dark Moon(Its still a good game though). With that I think other Mario games are fun. Dream Team is fun and even though it plays like Bowser's inside Story, its still a great game and its way better than Sticker Star.

The reason why Mario games are a letdown to some or many is because Nintendo is training new employees who aren't familiar with the game franchise so that when Miyamoto retires, these people will be in charge.

After I enjoyed Dream Team, I'm still positive about the Mario brand. Even if Mario games don't match like the past ones, his spin offs will certainly do well.

But after seeing 3D world, I think Mario will be fine. Now if they can make a game where you can play as Waluigi only like how they did for Wario. Come to think of it shouldn't there be Super Wario game by now or something? Its been a while since we've seen Wario land series.

I thought Dark Moon was better than the Gamecube game to be honest. More variety in missions and areas, much better music and level aesthetics, and some really damn good boss battles even without too much Portrait Ghosts.

Nothing against the latter, but... people really over praise the portrait ghosts in the Gamecube Luigi's Mansion, especially when they're kind of lame bosses in everything except maybe design. I mean, half didn't even try to kill you. I'd rather have more generic looking bosses that have the interesting attack patterns and the catchy theme songs of the Possessors in Dark Moon.

The missions is the main problem. You can't save anywhere you want and the only thing you're doing in Dark Moon for the most part is using the vacuum to solve puzzles and while that's not an issue, I really miss the game boy horror at this point. Also exploration is limited and specific gems should be accessed in the a particular area only so what's the point in that when you can't get hints. Also the Boos are harder to find in Dark Moon because you don't have a radar that tells you where they are unlike in the original but to be fair, the boos in the original appear on lit rooms but even then they are still easy to find with the radar.

But in terms of animation, its better than the original but the ghosts design are laughable and not all that pleasant. The only ghost that was a good one was the sneaker because not only does it disappear, it also scares Luigi whereas other ghosts don't scare him a bit as soon as they show up.

The original had more than just the vacuum to solve puzzles and the music is still better than Dark Moon for nostalgic reasons. The only problem is that many found the game short and that's that.

I'd say Dark Moon. Maybe that's because the first game being non-linear meant nothing most of the time. I mean the original had some things that were better, but I cant say there was ever a time where I was disappointed as a fan of the original, barring maybe the bosses (and even those were still fun, if less original), and Dark Moon gets credit for just having so much more content that's on the same level. And an online mode that's better than it probably has any right to be.

also, unlike most recent Mario games, it had personality, which made me happy

To be honest, I think the mission system is a much better idea than the original games one. Why? Let me explain:

1. It lets you quickly replay useful/fun parts whenever. Like a puzzle? You can just select the mission with it. Want to refight a boss? Select the mission with said boss. The original game had the flaw of you having to replay through the whole game just to re experience a good bit, unless you kept copying and keeping backups of well set up save files.

It's why I've always wanted games like Paper Mario, Zelda, Mario & Luigi and Pokemon to have a chapter select system in addition to the main save file structure, to get round this problem. There's a good reason the Mario series doesn't have this issue.

2. It lets you change up the level structure more significantly, without it making the game impossible to replay/annoying. So for example, you can have half the mansion burn down in one mission, or have rooms blocked off/opened at different points, and you're then still able to replay the area as it was BEFORE the events happened. Makes the game more 'dynamic'. In fact, I hope the next Luigi's Mansion game takes full advantage of this, maybe with stuff like a haunted ship sinking in a certain mission or the mansion itself exploding after a certain mission. Or something.

3. Finally, it makes it more convenient than save points do. Always hated having to walk all the way to the boss 'arena' or new rooms from the foyer or somewhere similar.

I only think they could have put a "Free Roaming Explore the Mansion" after finishing the game, it's boring to go to missions to look for the extras like the gems..... other than that and the far more generic main music I found it as enjoyable as the first...

@CM30

1. The original had short length so that doesn't matter. The idea of the mansion is to have free exploration unless there are paths you can't go yet. Its not so tedious either because you can always use the mirrors with the game boy horror to go back to toad and save. In Dark Moon however if you lose once(Unless you have the bone which is rare to find) you have to start the level all over again making it a bit tedious. But to be fair you don't die very often in Dark Moon infact its the large levels where you will die.(The desert level in the third mansion is a pain).

2. While I do agree with the idea of appearing in one part of the stage to begin the mission, it doesn't happen very often. Infact most of the missions will put you at the starting point of the level itself. The only thing good about the pixellator is putting you into the boss room instead of going to the place to face the boss.

3. Ok I can agree with the lack of save points in the original but because the bosses are not that tedious(Well maybe with the exception of Boolousus.)
I don't find this an issue.

I'm not disagreeing with you here. I'm just trying to say that the original still is better than Dark Moon in terms of gameplay alone.

I just want a 2D Mario from Nintendo that is as good as the Newer mod for Super Mario Bros Wii.

It is almost like Nintendo have forgotten how to do 2D Mario's well.
