I'm willing to bet the QR characters are more than just that. There is an extra tab on the Japanese website after all. We'll see. I like these QR unlockables more than paid DLC anyway (especially when it's already on the disc/cartridge)!

I hope its more than just extra Yoshi colors, that would be cool.

6.5 from IGN.
But that's not stopping me

They mainly faulted it not being as Mario-y as it could've been, the lack of competitiveness of the online multiplayer, and the poor implementation of the customization system. To those, I say:1. I'm cool with that;2. Hopefully a patch that upgrades the online with more partner selection options once Nintendo realizes its error, and3. Also a patch, but I'm sure there'll be dedicated people on the internet to decode the pie charts and provide us with a relatively simple way to understand them best, or better yet, just trial-and-error it like in Kid Icarus: Uprising.

The main fault with the game is that it seems to be a little bit rushed, so it lacks a bit of overall polish.I don't care though. It might not be as good as it could have been, but I'm sure I'll have fun with it.It's been ages since I played a good Mario Tennis game (not since the Nintendo 64) as I only had the Wii version of Mario Power Tennis, which was horrible!

All these "okay" reviews are putting me off slightly
I wish there was a way to turn off the chance shots in this game, it seems way too simon says, like where's the strategy?
@BenAV, the original Mario Power Tennis on Gamecube was amazing, don't call it bad just because of the poor Wii-make

Oh, I'm sure it was, I wish I had it!Unfortunately though, I only had the Wii version, and that's what I was calling horrible.

@BenAV, yeah I love that game
Still worried about this one though, who's getting it on launch day?

I thinking of picking this one up in early June, but I will wait and here your guy's impressions before taking the plunge.

@BenAV, you're my guy then
I need real opinions about this game before I completely decide on getting it or not. I won't make that decision based on a numbered score. If I hadn't wanted this game so bad, I could easily look at the reviews and skip it. But that's the problem, I really want this game to be good.
192. Posted: Wed 16th May 2012 04:49 BST
Well, I'll be sure to post what I think about it once I get a bit of a chance to play around with it.

@Emaan1 About stradegy with chance circles:Say a yellow circle appears on the court. Your opponent will expect you to lob the ball. However if you so choose, you can surprise them with a short drop shot, earning you a hearty score.

Mario Hoops 3-on-3 got the same score from IGN and I really enjoyed that game (I think I said this already).
I'm going to have a blast with this game. Cannot wait.

Mario Hoops 3 on 3 was fun for a while, but it definitely wasn't as good as the other Mario sports games I've played. I had three of them on Gamecube : Mario Superstar Baseball, Super Mario Strikers, and Mario Power Tennis, all were great.
I don't know, I might agree with IGN on the score for Mario Hoops 3 on 3.

This game is still getting pretty mixed reviews, so I really don't think I'll be getting this one...If one of you get this game and think its amazing, sure I will, but otherwise I don't think so.

I'm not expecting this game to blow my mind, but I'll still get it anyway. I just want a fun Mario Tennis game that I can play anywhere, and I still think I can be able to play all of Super Mario Bros. on Super Mario Tennis. Besides, I usually like to play random matches off-and-on whether its Smash Bros. Brawl or Mario Tennis.

@NintyFan, that's how I always played Mario Power Tennis. It wasn't loaded with content (although from what I've seen, more than this game) but I still found it fun. Unfortunately everything that I loved about Power Tennis was removed in Open, such as the different courts and of course the power shots.
Like I said, I don't think I'm getting it, but if I hear good things from people on here, I might give it a try. With all the other games I plan on getting this summer, I don't want to put money down on a game I'm not sure about.
