You could always read reviews, google, something like that. It's pretty much what anyone who answers would have to do themselves.

You should also use this thread if you want help on what game to buy between different consoles.

@BlackFira Actually since MK7 is newer it probably already, or will soon, have more racers online.

i meant the limit of online racers on the track not the availablity of them

one thing i can say for sure is that MK7 has worse item balancing. MK wii made blue shells really annoying but that was all you had to contend with, MK7 has the blue shells in addition to more frequent lightning bolts, red shells, bullet bills, and then new items like fireballs and tanooki tails. it never lets up, you're always getting hit with something and it can get really annoying, fast.

the tracks are harder in MK7 too with more difficult turns and obstacles, which would be a good thing if you didn't have to try to navigate them with all the stupid projectiles and lightning bolts hitting you on those turns and constantly spinning you off of cliffs. i think MK7 has better time trials than MK wii due to the higher challenge, but in GP or online the items make it extremely irritating.

another thing worth mentioning is that the kart choices are much more limited in MK7. you don't have bikes anymore and even though you can customize parts it really doesn't make much of a difference since everything feels like a slight variation on the standard kart. i loved the mach bike in MK wii but there's nothing that gives you turning that sharp in MK7, i still haven't unlocked everything but so far i haven't found any karts i like.

to summarize:
MK wii: fun (but frustrating)
MK7: frustrating (but fun)

I def prefer Mk7 over Mkwii. I hated the bikes and casual feeling of MKWii.

Mario kart 7 is the best Mario kart since Super Mario kart for the Snes.

Well for me it is anyway.

I totally disagree. Wii was worse for 12 players and the dang Lightning Cloud and POW block

Mario Kart 7 is far and above the better game. Especially with the new tracks, I love every single course, barring one online due to an annoying, easily abused glitch that basically guarantees anyone who doesn't use it to lose. But even that course itself is amazing, and great fun offline or online when the glitch is not used.

The fireball power-up kind of annoys me honestly, but the tanooki tail power-up is awesome, and his saved me many times already. Though as someone said, the item balancing is kind of worse. I honestly haven't run into near as many blue shells, but it seems like at any given time, you're being chased by a red shell or you've been shrunk by lightning. And with all of these new gliding parts, (which are awesome) it's really annoying to be hit by something nearly every time, falling into the water or lava or whatever perilous pitfall lies below and losing large amounts of ground to other racers.

Nintendo - Where even first person shooters ooze creativity.

i'm not saying MK wii wasn't annoying, but you could dodge the pow by jumping and the cloud wasn't nearly as frequent as the regular items. i think the big difference in MK7 may not be that the items themselves are more powerful but that the tracks are harder and the item distractions are a lot more annoying because of it (even though the items definitely are more powerful). and yeah, getting hit while helplessly gliding in midair and then falling into a bottomless pit is the worst, especially when it's a blue shell. i've tried to use the dodge trick with a mushroom but haven't gotten it to work in this game yet.

Guys you really don't want to race me on Wii if you find getting hit by frequent items, annoying. XD

Mario Kart 7 is far better, the items, karts and courses (races and battles).
I do agree that the item control can be annoying at times, but only because I lose 3 coins every time I get hit.

I think MK7 is great — even better than MK DS — but I think the items' frequency and effect is too disruptive. It's constantly stop, restart and recollect coins. It hurts the tempo of the game. And MK Wii offered much greater kart variation, even without the bikes. That said, MK7's original tracks are much better!

Honestly? I prefer the Wii version. Don't get me wrong, I'm hooked on the current 3ds one, especially now I got that darn online problem fixed, but there's something I love about the Wii version. Perhaps it's the fact there are 12 racers at one time for a more chaotic experience, or could it be the all-action, gung-ho feel the item system has (the POW block and the much maligned thundercloud IMO are perfect for a manic 12 person race) yet I must admit a little part of me died when I realised the Mega Mushroom wasn't included for MK7, even though it's hardly essential with the staple Starman and Lightning Bolt items. I do however love the fact they've gotten rid of the bikes and especially Funky Kong, bringing in a whole cluster of new, unexpected characters (The Honey Queen!?!?) and Kart customisations, and the 16 original courses are probably unparallelled to the selections in any other MK game. It does run close, don't get me wrong, but I do favour MK Wii's balls-out insanity to the still rather excellent new offering on the 3ds. So yeah, feel free to take me to pieces ladies and gents!!

Don't take this personally, but I think you're falling under the influence of selective perception here. First of all, getting hit by fireballs and super leaves is really your own problem for not paying attention (and not looking at the bottom screen more often.) It might seem like you're getting hit by blue shells and thunderbolts frequently, but if you actually count the number of those items in one race you'll find that even on the longest tracks there is usually one or no thunderbolts at all. 2 thunderbolts in one race is quite rare and I don't think I've seen 3 thunderbolts in a race yet. Similarly, I rarely see more than 2 blue shells in a race even on 150cc; I've seen 3 before but it's really uncommon. Many times there isn't a single blue shell in a race. Getting hit by bullet bills is also entirely your own fault; it's not hard to dodge them at all if you know they're coming.
I would agree with you on red shells, they are quite common however they don't appear any more often than they did in MKW, and they're easily blocked by dragging an item behind your kart. In fact, I don't think any powerful items in MK7 appear more often than they did in MKW. If you're going to say I'm being too vague, I'm currently doing an experiment right now to measure the item balance and I'll post the results when I'm done. BTW, to dodge a blue shell you have to wait until the very last second to use your mushroom. The timing is different from MKW. The nice thing though is that it works almost anywhere if you time it right.

Honestly (and I know many of you will agree with me on this one) bikes kind of ruined MKW. The ability to do wheelies at any time was really cheap and bikes really made karts pointless in MKW when playing against players with similar skill to yourself. Also, I don't know where you got everything feeling like a slight variation on the standard kart. True, the most boost any kart gives to any stat is 0.5, but you would be surprised at how much of a difference an extra 0.5 speed or acceleration can make. But actually the weight class of your character and your wheels affect your stats the most. Have you tried different wheels or a character in a different weight class yet? If you need something that turns sharply, try on the roller or mushroom wheels for size. Also, the karts actually have a whole bunch of hidden stats like speed while gliding, underwater, mini-turbo strength, and more. Many of the gliders that look like they give you the same stats actually give very different bonuses to these hidden stats. You might not notice the effect of the hidden stats but they can actually make a world of difference.

If the 3DS has not been discontinued SM3DL and MK7 are awesome games, but if the 3DS has been discontinued Sony has taken over the world. It is not true that both Sony has taken over the world and SM3DL and MK7 are not awesome games. Therefore:Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 are...

LordJumpMad

They Both sucked compares to Mario Kart Double Dash
other then that, I like the courses and gameplay of MKWii and I'm not talking about the Bikes.
MK7 lacks a recoverly boost when you get hit, and alot of theses courses are way too short or small, makes it hard for big karts to get around.
The gliders gameplay is the only thing I find fun about MK7, not so much for the under water levels, they feel really slow.
The items are really unbalance in MK7, I find it strange that 4th place can get a stars real quicky and the Bullet Bill is really useless, in MKWii Billet can get you to 4th place if your 8th but in MK7, if everyone is really ahead of you, you stay the place your in or it will sent you to a wall or off road.
That said, MK7 is not unplayble, it still fun as long you don't spent time playing MakaWuku all day online

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.
